Lets see...the pain is rough...you have to learn how to sit all over again and laay down forget sleeping on your sides for a long time. About 5 weeks. First few weeks the drain  tubes wont let ya then its the healing that wont let ya.
The first thing is the most awesome. and I am going to be blunt..to be able to lay on the bed and look at yourself and see the family jewels without layers of fat hiding them...then when you stand up for the first time and there is no hanging skin.... this surgery is difficult for the patient there is pain but this pain is different. You will not want to stretch or lift or strain until your surgeon releases you. MAKE SURE you take a laxative and a softner. This is not the time to be straining cause It will hurt like a demon. Plus you can pop a stitch and cause a hernia.
Hope this helps..oh take before pics  yep naked..then after you are healed the post pics....
lol  then send them to.....
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

Good luck on your surgery.  It must be scary but you will be happy you did the surgery once the pain and discomfort has passed.  I am still needing to do a hernia surgery and I'm hoping the doctor will also do my tummy tuck while he's in there as well as yanking out my gallbladder and appendix.  He keeps putting me off because I'm the queen of complications but you will do wonderful and you will make those wranglers look even better than ever.

Best of luck and I will say a prayer for your speedy recovery.

Russ,
Sorry I didn't respond sooner but congratulations on your up coming surgery. My son in law had it a few years ago and had wonderful results! It changed him more mentally than anything, I didn't think he even needed it done really, but for his self image, it was a boost.
Pain wise....no surgery is without pain of some sort. I do hope it is an easy one for you and that your recovery goes well.
I would really ask that you post your progress for those on here who are thinking about it. It is always so encouraging to others to watch another's path before deciding on their own.
Again, the best of luck to you and a speedy recovery!

Thanks for the comments,  this time tomorrow I should be coming out of surgery.  Still nervous, but I know everthing will be OK!  The depressing part now is that if the hospital doesn't get some paper work filled asap I won't be able to donate my extra skin, which is something that I felt very strongly about.  Have made some phone calls to try and get the ball rolling asap.  I will try and post tomorrow or the next day if I can use my lap top at the hospital.
