I need to know what kind of vitamins I can take at 6 moths out.  I am ready to be done with chewables.  I got some calcium citrate +D yesterday but I have to break them in 1/2 to take them.  They are big.  I don't know about a multivitamin.  What kind of vitamins do you take over the counter?
Thanks for your help!

I do a chewable centrum multi with iron. I tried the regular tablets (found some in Walmart that said the are smaller -- and they are) but a little while after taking them I throw up nasty vitamin taste so I went back to chewable. I use a cherry flavored sublingual B12 from Walmart. When I remember, I take a sugar free chocolate calcium chew from Walmart. They are caltrate but at least I am more compliant with them than I was the citrate chewables or the citrical petites. I just had my labs done and they were picture perfect!

Hey Kim-

I saw on TV they now have gummies for adults (I believe One A Day). You may ask your Nut if these are acceptable...I am getting to the tired of chewables too!

Wow Kim, you are SHRINKING!!!!  I am still using the chewable vitamins (can't wait til they are gone so I can go back to the Centrum chewables because the brand I am taking now taste horrible!).  I also take chewable calcium.  I am a bit leery about taking regular pills, I really don't want anything to get stuck in my band.  What does doc say about this?  I guess I just assumed I would be on chewable or liquid vitamins forever.  Let me know what works.

When I left the hospital last week I asked this question.  They told me you could take flinstone chewables.  I'm not sure how many you have to take, but they told me that alot of people do it to keep their cost down.  I haven't tried them yet, but I'm thinking about it.  I can't stand the taste of my multi-vit.

Hi, Kim J.
Please do not take any gummie vites (or anything similar). They do not have the amount necessary for weight-loss surgery patients. Celebrate Vitamins has bariatric chewable vitamins and supplements in chewable form, but they also have capsules. I now take their multivitamins, and they're really pretty small and thin. They go down no problem. As soon as I finish the chewable Calciums I have, I'll be ordering Calcium capsules from them, also. The cost is about $10 for a month's supply. Their Iron + C chewable tastes like a grape sweet tart, and it doesn't make me feel queasy, so I plan to continue taking those. I will continue taking sublingual B-12 (from Walmart), unless told otherwise, according to bloodwork.
One tip for taking chewables is to suck on them, rather than chewing them up. This helps me not feel queasy from them.
Take care.
Blessings,
Mary

At 6 months out I take multi vitamin with iron, calicum citrate, potassium, biotin, flax seed, iron suppliment, b complex, a b-12 injection once a month, laxative, softner, vitamin c....NONE and I repeat NONE are chewables. I quit them at 3 months post op. OPPS actually before that... All my stuff is bought at wally world.

You are one shrinking woman!! You are looking great Kim! What a change!
Ok on to the topic....
I take a chewable multi that is Walgreens brand called A to Z and has 18mg of iron in it...The only thing is, if I take 2 a day, then that is to much iron....soooooooooo I take one A to Z with the iron and I take 2 without iron during the day......That covers that....I then take 1200mg of  Citracal petites*They are a lot smaller than reg. calcium tablets)  to cover the calcium and a B-12 sublingual once a day or once every other day....I also take a once a month Vitamin D that my doctor prescribed. I take a magnesium and also a Biotin capsual too.... I don't mind the chewable multivitamin at all so I figure it won't hurt to do 3 a day as long as I'm not getting to much iron.  I think this personal journey means it all is a matter of what you can handle....personally, as long as you are getting in what you need then that's all that matters.

I have never been able to get the hard chewable vitamins down nor could I do the liquid ones either.  I spoke to Chris (nut) about it and she said to use the rule of thumb that if it tastes good, it has too much sugar and felt the gummy Flinstones fell into this category.

I have switched to the One A Day gummy vitamins (Walgreens) but I can tell no difference between those and the Flintstones.  The dose is still the same, which we are supposed to double anyway.

I spoke to Dr. Walton about it this morning and he said any of the vitamins can cause stomach upset because our tummies are healing and have new scar tissue.  He actually told me to stop taking any vitamins for a little while but said I could take a regular prenatal vitamin if it didn't upset my tummy.  He also said there was no real info on how the sleeve tummy digests pills but if I noticed the pill in my stool, then it wasn't being digested.

Hope this is helpful!

Kim, I love the new avatar. You look amazing. doing a great job.
On the multivitamin, I take 2 chewable centrums a day. They aren't too bad as far as taste goes. I am still looking for a calcium that I can take. I am sick of the chewable ones and they are so expensive.
