Welcome to the OK forum!  You are in a wonderful place for questions and opinions.  It's nice because we have all been there, done that are headed in that direction.  I had my WLS 3/12/08 and it was by far the best decision of my life.  I wish I could have done this when I was much younger.  You look to be really young in your picture so you will have a lot of living to do and feel like doing it all.  You won't fail at this if you follow the doctor's instructions.  They know what they are doing at WeightWise and are very good it it all.  They have had NO morbidities at their facility do date which is wonderful.  They instructed us to all do certain things pre-op and they have their reasons for it all.  They want you to be in the very best of health possible before your surgery.

I was never successful at another other weight loss efforts before this either but thought if I could loose about 100 pounds I would be happy.  I have lost 180 pounds to date and couldn't be more pleased.  If you should have any questions, just ask away.  Someone will chime in with their answers or experiences!!!

(((HUGS)))) and welcome my friend.  Hang on to your hat because this journey is a fast one indeed.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

hello and welcome to the OKIE site. I am one of the ornery posts ops that has had complications AND I am also the one that when challenged has to prove the myths are not true.
Losing 42 pounds is not hard at all I did it to get a date cause I was and still am hard headed..Did it in less than two months. Just keep in contact with support groups or peeps and know that this ride is one hell of a one. I went from 486 pounds to now 189 in 18 months..not bad for someone that had to have some kind of surgery every few months.
AGAIN welcome and congrats on your decision
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

One small bit of advice:

Follow the program.  Drs. Walton and Broussard are laying out the groundwork for a new you.  The nutritionists and physiologist will help you eat and exercise.  Do exactly what they say.  The new tummy is a tool.  YOU still have to do the work but the tool makes it easier.

Everyone here wants you to be a success and you will be.  Consider it your rebirth.  At 26 you are getting the chance to be a new person physically.  You have the rest of your life to live a newer, healthier you.  Grab the opportunity and fight to keep going with it!  It's truly an amazing journey!

I look forward to welcoming you to the bench!

WElcome to the board Angie. I am Emily. I am 40 and had RNY on March 2. I am down 78 pounds and counting. I started out at 314. It is not an easy road by any means. Lately I have been getting sick a lot and just can't eat, but I would still do this over and again. I am off of about half the meds I was taking including insulin.
Good luck on your journey.

Hello and welcome to the Okie board!  I am also a Walton sleeve patient and had surgery about a year ago.  I also still worry about weight regain and know that this will be a concern for me for the rest of my life.   But with the new, tiny tummy I have way more than a fighting chance.  I've lost 99 pounds (can't seem to get to the magical 100!) and have about 40 more to go.  There is a major emotional component to this whole process so make sure you're emotionally ready to change your relationship with food forever!

I am absolutely thrilled that I made this decision!  It was the best decision I have ever made.  It is within my power to lose more and that is a wonderful feeling.

You have in wonderful hands at WeightWise as the others have said.  Listen to them as they are experts.  I had to lose pre-op weight too and felt a little overwhelmed at first but I did it and it really prepared me for what was to come post-op so embrace the whole process.

Much good luck to you and please ask any questions you might have.  We are a big, caring family here!

Hi Angie and welcome! Congrats on making this decision and don't worry about the pre-op weight you need to lose, they will help you at Weightwise - they were awesome when I had to lost the 50 lbs that I was kindly asked to lose before surgery. My BMI was almost 70 because I am a shorty, about 5'2". Having to lose that pre-op weight has definitely set the ground for post-op life and made things much easier after surgery.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU! THIS WAS THE BEST DECISION THAT I EVER MADE FOR MYSELF. YOU HAVE THE BEST SURGEON IN THE WORLD BUT I CAN SAY THAT BECAUSE HE DID MY SURGERY. I WEIGHED 326LBS WHEN I STARTED AND HAD TO LOSE 33LBS BEFORE SURGERY. THE DAY OF SURGERY I HAD LOST 40LBS. I TOO WAS AFRAID THAT I WOULD FAIL BUT AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW DR'S ORDERS YOU WILL DO JUST FINE. PLEASE KEEP ME UP TO DATE ON YOUR PROGRESS AND LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP YOU! AGAIN CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR DECISION!
