Newbie Here
Hi Everyone,
I thought I would drop a line and introduce myself. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you really soon. I have to share our PC with my hubby and he can be a bit of a PCpig... so I will be on as much as he will let me... or until I get my own! LOL
Anyways, my name is Angie. I am 26 years old and have FINALLY decided it is time to do something about my weight and hope to have found that VSG is the way for me to realize my dreams. I have started the process at WeightWise in Edmond, OK with Toby Brussard. My starting weight is 423.5lbs. Before he will operate, he wants me to lose 42lbs to ensure optimum operating condition. I totally understand and look at this as boot camp for what is to come. I hope. Being 5'10" my starting BMI is around 60. It wasn't too long ago that I was a solid 6'. I am shrinking.... only not in a good way at this point, but hopefully will start soon.
I am very optimistic of my decision and very excited for a new life. I am quite scared too though. I am not concerned about the surgery itself, but at failing at it. I have never succeeded at weightloss before in my life and hop that this will be an answer to my prayers.
I am hopeful to be going into surgery within the next few months. Any advice, experiences, etc.... you can give, I'd appreciate.
Thank you and many hugs!!!

Welcome to OH and also to WeightWise.. I am a long-term patient of Dr Waltons, but Dr Broussard has been right there all along the way as well. You are in the BEST hands you can be sure of your choice of practice & program!
I started out somewhere around 360ish... I am 3 years out with RNY and am around 180'ish (lowest 172ish). My BMI when I actually started the program was 52. I still have a little ways to go but I am in control of that now and know what I have to do to pull the rest of the weight off.
Keep involved in support groups and the online group as well. You will have lots of questions and will need lots of support. Please be sure to bring your husband to support group as well.... it will help him understand some of the things you will be going to. Also there is a spouse forum here in OH that he might be interested in...
Keep the faith, keep your eye on the grand prize.. it is WELL WORTH IT!!!

Hi Angie,
Congratulation on making the one of the biggest descion of your life. I'm Sudsie, and I'm 53, and I'm only 6 weeks out from having Lap. RNY. I am so glad I finally made the descion to have this done. My weight at consult was 438.5 and I am now down to 375. and it sure has been a ride. If you have questions this is the place to come and ask them. This group is really great.

Hi Angie ~ Welcome to the Oklahoma OH Board! I'm Renae and I'm almost 5 years post-op RNY from Dr Kenneth Warnock in Wichita Falls, TX. My starting weight was 303 lbs and now I hover between 130-132 lbs. I haven't been without a few complications from my surgery, but I would do it all over again if I had to~ Best decision I ever made! I have also had 2 kiddos since my WLS in 2004. I was 26 when I had my WLS, by the way, so we have that in common :) I look forward to getting to know you better along your journey! I agree with Ruth that support, online and/or offline is essential to success. I feel that I could have relapsed and regained many times without the support of others who have been there.

Hi, Angie.
Welcome to the OKlahoma forum. Everyone here is very supportive. I had the Sleeve on Nov. 17, 2008, and, including pre-op weight loss, I've lost 125 lbs. (from my highest weight). Of that, I've lost 98 since I began seeing Dr. Walton. I had to lose just under 40 lbs. prior to surgery. I felt it was impossible, but with the Lord's help, it happened.
I'm not the fastest loser here, for sure, but the weight is coming off. I've had no complications, which has been a huge blessing. If you have any Sleeve questions that I can answer, just give a holler. I'll do my best.
My best advice (not that you asked) is to put into place now as many post-op dietary habits as you can. It will make the transition so much easier.
Blessings,
Mary
