Hello all! Thanks for your prayers and thoughts while i was in the hospital. I survived...yes, even the anesthesia part of it :) Dr. Gornichec let me out yesterday and honestly, I was pretty scared to leave because I kind of liked the fact that I was being monitored. But, I'm doing just fine...

As a side note....apparently I asked Dr. Gornichec and the nurses in the OR right before going completely under if it was too late to do diet and exercise instead. They thought it was hilarious...so at least I was in good spirits!

I do have a question though for those who have had laproscopic RNY--the incision on your left side (the largest one) how long did that stay painful? I'm not gonna lie...I'm pretty much a wimp when it comes to pain and this has been killing me. I have loritab to take every 4 hours, and trust me I'm watching that clock! Just wondering how long it lasted for each of you.

Congrats on making it to the loser's bench!  Sounds like you did really well in the hospital, even the anesthesia part :)  Glad to hear you were in good spirits~ it always helps!  As for the incisional pain?..  I had open RNY so it was different, but I'll admit that I was still sore.  Hope that it gets better for you soon~ let me know if you need anything!

Congrats on making it to "the other side"!!!  I had lap RNY and I was never in much pain at all.  I had a little discomfort but didn't even use my pain meds because it caused nausea for me personally.  The only discomfort I had was gettin up and down and rolling over in the bed.  That really only lasted 3 or so days though.  I was only off work a week and have never really had any problems.  It was probably the easiest thing I've ever don but we are all different.  I did notice on the liquid loritab bottle it says "do not take on an empty stomach" and mine was empty for 2 weeks post op except for liquids.  I have a pretty high pain tolerance though.  I think I had my total energy back in a couple of months.  Good luck to you!!!  We'll be excited to watch your progress.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

Congrats on making it through.

I had the lap lapband last December my incisions weren't too bad, some pain for a few days, mostly just getting up and down.  I have a high pain tolerance also and it was my 4th surgery of the year, 3rd laproscopic one, so maybe I was just tolerant of it by then.  Everyone is different.  Take your pain meds and move around as much as possible that will help it will also help relieve the gas you have built up from the surgery.

Best of luck

Congrats, you loser!  You are in for the most exciting time of your life?  Those first couple of months, it's actually fun to hop on the scales!  Who would've ever thought?  Make the most of it!

I had lap sleeve and the 3rd day was the worst.  After that, each day got a little better.  It probably took me about a month for all of the soreness to go away.  No matter how long it takes you, it is so well worth it!

Best of luck to you!  Kim

Congratulations and welcome to the loser's bench.  This is an awesome Ride!!

I had Lap RNY on April 28th. and I really didn't have a lot of pain with mine. I did take some pain pills that he had given me. But didn't have any trouble with nausea.  Everyone was surprised at how well I was doing.  I have a high pain level also.
I see my surgeon next week for my 6 week checkup.

It's so good to hear from you, and I love that you made everyone laugh as you were going under. :)
I had lap. VSG, but your painful incision, the largest one, is the one where the largest scope went in, so it can be painful for several weeks. Just keep an eye on it, for any signs of infection, and if you're unsure about anything, give your doctor a call. Trust me, he wants you to.
Keep sipping and walking. You're doing great. Hugging a pillow helps with getting up and down, too.
Blessings & Continued Prayers,
Mary
