Shrinking -- WOW moment
I was making sales calls with one of our account managers yesterday. We made a call on a physician I have not seen in a couple of months. When he turned around and saw me he exclaimed, "Nancy you are shrinking!" He told me he did not think I needed to lose anymore. Since BMI and weight loss is something he has had to discuss quite often in his specialty, the conversation concentrated on the change in my BMI. He commented on how beneficial it would be if there was a way to have his patients feel what it was like to lower BMI, even if just for a few minutes. His nurse then suggested I do a presentation on this at one of his seminars. He agreed. Well anyone *****ally knows me knows that I am not one to speak in front of a group.
We did talk some about what we were there for, but more about me. I am not used to being the center of attention!

Hi, Nancy.
I saw a Discovery Health show about a morbidly obese guy who went through all these tests, to see how his body was being affected by his excess weight. To show him how much easier it would be to walk, if he were 100 lbs. lighter, he was zipped into this "bubble" while he was on a treadmill. Air pressure is added, which serves to cause his body to feel the weight less. It was amazing, the difference it made for him. I thought, "What an amazing thing, to be able to exercise (walk or run) and not have any pain!"
I wrote an email to Somer, the exercise physiologist at Wt. Wise (don't know if she's still working there):
I found some info. about this treadmill, called the G-Trainer. Here are 2 links (news item and YouTube video), so you can find out more about it, unless you already know. Now, it's pricey, something like $75,000, but it would be so cool if the powers-to-be at Wt. Wise got one for the gym! Talk about motivation! Your post made me think of all this. :)

Nancy... I, too, think you would be a very inspirational speaker just to tell the story of the success you have had! You have done so great!

Nancy you will do an amazing job and you are the perfect person for it! I do quite a bit of speaking and the best speakers are the ones who just have a conversation with their audience. Don't try and make it formal and memorized. Just tell them your story. You are the expert on your story so you will be credible and people will love it!! You are a good communicator and you will do fantastic!

Nancy, the very best speakers are those who have experienced the topic. You know and have experienced this and the words come from that experience. They would tend to just flow from your heart. I think it would be great and so would you! Look at it asm the experience is the center of the attention, and you are just the voice. You will do great!
I'm such a dork, Nancy! I got so sidetracked, thinking about that treadmill, that I failed to say that you would do an awesome job presenting at a seminar. Go for it!

Mary
