Surgery next week

Food allergies, the flu, tight band and who knows what else took their toll on my little hernia and it exploded. My stomach has prolapsed through my diaphragm into my esophagus. Yes, it does hurt.
So it's liquids before (sipped up right and remaining upright for a few minutes-no more mindless drinking for this chick)....and liquids for two weeks after.
I've told Dr. N to decide whatever she thinks best about the band after she sees how the hernia repair goes and how the band looks. I'd like to keep it, but I'm not going to leave something in there that it waiting to go wrong because I dislike surgery. It was actually very empowering to just tell her what my concerns where and then let her make the call after she gets the lay of the land.
Not sure about length of stay since she won't know till she has a peek what all she's going to do. My guess is that if she has to perforate the stomach for any reason, I'll fall under the leak test rule and spend the night-if she doesn't, I may be set free upon peeing and drinking, both of which I am very good at!
Bless your heart! That sounds...well...less than fun. You're not panicking, which is good. You have an A+ surgeon, which is great. Please let me know which day and time is your surgery, if you don't mind, so I can bathe you in prayer. No matter what, I'm praying for you. I know you'll do great.
Blessings,

Thank you so much. My heart and my gut (LOL) tells me the band is ok-all the discomfort is in a completely different spot away from where the band is. Regardless of what happens, I'm on liquids for two weeks, which will give me plenty of time to figure out what I need to do next if the band isn't with me. Ironically, if the band IS with me, it's empty, to so I'll have to go through the same thought process.
Looks like I have some unavoidable thinking ahead.

In the best case world-it's a drive through surgery! I'm in out (hah)back up and gone! (That's why I'm being so careful about movement right now, not to irritate or upset anything further). If she has to stitch around on the actual stomach, I suspect that puts me in the leak test rules-and that may mean overnight-and I'm cool with that. I'll have my folks bring my laptop and let you guys know if that's the case.
Not sure what a good visitor I'd make. Talking is a bit dicey now and may be more so after my diaphragm is stitched up. The only sign language I know isn't very nice.....Hah! I just made myself laugh out loud and hurt my tummy with that one!
