Did you all find it easy to stay on liquids for 2 weeks?

I'm really not as hungry as I used to be, but I think a little bit is coming back.

This is my 4th day post op.   Any suggestions?

The answer is a NO, it is not easy....but it is do-able! Remember it is more than likely head hunger and not physical hunger. Below is some ideas that I used that did help plus added more vitamins to the stage. Good luck...and I promise you will get through this and you will be in heaven when you get to have your first taste of real food!

Ideas for the liquid broth stage: Remember there are many types of broth's and bullions. I went to the asian market and found all kinds besides just chicken and beef.    Remember you need a real good strainer for these ideas After simmering, let the mixture sit, to fuse the flavors and vitamins. I kept a container to put the left over veggies in to use when I make a soup for the mushie stage....I am not wasting anything! lol Its in my freezer. You can also add unflavored Whey protein to any soup to give it a creamier texture. Do not do spices that might upset your tummy.....I tried to keep any seasoning to a mild type with just enough to add a bit of flavor....   Beef Broth          Chopped onions (to make an onion soup)          Green peppers and chopped onions          Green onions for a different onion taste          Carrots/ celery/ onions           A shot of soy sauce and a small amount of wasabi paste           A shot of Whorchestershire           Chopped cabbage/onions,celery/carrots No tomatoes without asking your doctor...We can't at Weight Wise. Chicken Broth         Add some poultry seasoning, chopped celery and carrots
Vegetable Broth
The knor brand taste's like turkey dressing.....It was really good or I was really hungry. Shrimp broth/ It's not fishy tasting like you would think...It has a bisque type flavor             Old Bay Use any fresh veggies you like or enjoy to flavor the broth for the vitamins but this has to be strained very well to be free of particles.

Thanks so much Okiechic7,

You are awesome!!!  I'm going to the store or send my husband tomorrow to get the ingredients for these soups.  Thanks again...you rock and thanks for the encouragement.  I like the way you said that I will be in heaven when I get to have my first taste of food.  HEAVEN, I'M IN HEAVEN

I was on liquids for 10 days after surgery. It didn't bother me. I had sf jello, sf popsicles, broth, diluted gatorade, diluted cranberry juice and lots of crystal light. I never got hungry. I still don't get hungry. You will make it, I promise. Add some variety to your day.

Thanks Emily,

Yes, I'm already drinking the smar****er with kool aid and stevia.  Sugar free popsicles, chicken and beef broth.  I'm not much for jello.  I'm going to try the power ade zero.  I also like the crystal light sugar free popsicles.

The head hunger was really hard, for me. When I began to feel "empty" and a bit weak, I found if I took in some liquid protein (I tolerated Isopure Grape drink), I felt much better. I was definitely ready for the next stage of eating, though, and when it was time, I was rejoicing! :)
Hang in there. You can do this, and the weight loss during this time will be amazing.
Blessings,
Mary

Hi Marylaw,

Thanks for replying.  I think it probably is head hunger.  I will keep on trucking though.  I'm not going to go off course.  How much weight did you lose the first two weeks?

I had to go look. :)  I lost 20 lbs. in the first 2 weeks after surgery. Ah...those were the days! Just resist the urge to compare your progress to that of others. You'll always be able to find others who are losing less than you and who are losing more than you. Try to be content with your journey, however fast/slow/in between it is. :)
Blessings,
Mary

It was easy for me until about day 11 then it was really hard but I knew that it was something I had to do. I had SF popsicles, SF Jello, and broth.  To this day 9 months later I cant stand the thought of SF Jello just thinking about it kinda makes me nauseous.  This will be over before you know it and it will be time for mushies.  Take it easy, and every time you are taking in a liquid just remember why you are doing it and the big payoff that will result in the 2 weeks of liquids.  Oh yeah I lost 20 lbs. on my 2 weeks of liquids.  You might not lose that much but it will be well worth it.

Rosielocks,

Thanks for sharing your experience and giving me encouragement.  This is my second wls.  I had the band and it did not work for me.  I'm very determined to have great success with this wls tool.  I know that I'm really not that hungry.  It's just I sometimes think about food or if I see a commercial on TV or talk to people about eating, etc,etc....... I then think that I need some food, it must be in my head......  Thanks Rosielocks.
