I have a friend at work who just got RNY.  Good for him!!  I can't wait to watch him melt!

He and his wife have stumbled upon a bread that we can eat.  Here's the details:

Per 1 slice serving

119 calories
9 from fat

Total fat 1g
Saturated fat 0g
Cholesterol 0g
Sodium 140mg
Total Carbohydrate 13g
Dietary fiber 12g
Sugars 0g
Protein 12g

If you look at the stats, that's only 1g net carbs and 12g protein!!  He and his wife graciously gave me a loaf to try out and I can't wait to see what the Nut thinks at my next appointment.  I'll let everyone know what she says and how legal it is for us but I'm thinking it should be okay.

What do you guys think?

Well, I will just say this.....I can't wait to hear what your Nut thinks too.....I was told that at Weight Wise,  NO bread, no matter what kind, no cereal, no pasta(no matter what kind), no rice and no soft drinks were allowed. I have sent her the stats on a lot of things....answer back was always a NO! Oh and a "sorry".  I was told that it was not the carb count that was the issue but the texture and the swelling up in the gut issue.
Do let us know though...

Be sure and let us know what she says.  You can also copy and paste this into an e-mail to her.  That is the quickest way to get a response.  My last visit to her was a little dissappointing for me.  I mentioned that I have been eating a blue bunny sugar free ice cream bar about 3 or 4 evenings a week for a long time.  Her answer was "it's not what's in it...it's just not what we consider "good" foods to fill up the pouch on"  and...it's the discipline that I have of eating it when it's not meal time.....!!!  Guilty as charged but I still have one but not as often.  I do know that all the disciplines I had have to be changed and for the most part have.  I'm thinking if you're going to have bread this would be your best choice.  I just know that the texture in itself would not sit well in my pouch but might in your pouch since you have the sleeve.  Good luck and I'm anxious to hear your answer from them.  You are certainly melting away Winne!!!

Personally the content of this bread looks great! It even has more to offer than a protein bar...but.....I just already know what they are going to say....When I asked about some cereal that looked great...high in protein, low in carbs....the answer was NO!  Ok....obviously what the nut considers "good food" and what I consider good foods are two different things! HAHA! The rebel in me says; what is wrong with a SF item off and on??? It is hard when you are only consuming about 800 calories a day to understand that logic....BUT I am listening to my Nut and Dr. Walton....I may not like it....but I will listen to them, after all, it's in my best interest....Obviously I was doing something wrong since I had to have the surgery!!

I don't have Jess or Chris e-mail address or I would send this information to them and ask.  I figured I was going to be there  a week from tomorrow so I could wait until then.  I'm not actually going to try it until I get the OK from the NUT.  I don't want to have issues.  However, this stuff acts more like a protein bar than a slice of bread when in the tummy.  Not much expansion and keeps you satisfied for a long time.

Wow, that would be so awesome!!!  Just think, grilled cheese sandwich or a thin slice of ham/cheese!!!  That would be even more protein and a great sandwich!!!  Can't wait to hear what she has to say about it next week!!!  Thanks for sharing the information with us.  I personally need some new change!!

My thoughts exactly.  I only waste breath if I ask and the answer is no.  If the answer is yes, then many of us would benefit.  What's to lose?

To quote a very well known statement.....You have not, because you ask not!
I tend to follow that one a lot! So we will just get someone else to ask this time! HAHA! We will let you do the asking and we will hide behind you!

I am not a nut but a post op! LMAO!
For me....the protein is not higher than the carbs so that a NO NO...calories is to high...
and if aint whole wheat I aint eatting it!
Folks white bread is pure garbage there is  no true nutritional value in it so even before surgery I never touched the stuff and since surgery...all I use it for is to feed the birds at Lake Hefner
Plus bread has to be toasted to be eatten by us..
I know a grilled cheese sandwich tastes mighty good...but if you stick to the guidelines you wll have to use fat free cheese and it just doesnt melt  so great and then you hve to use the fat free maragrine and that doesnt work so great either...
My sweetie in SC makes them that way and they are not so great...
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
