so, my doctor asked me to initially loose 32 lbs. prior to having surgery. i've lost about 20. he went ahead and scheduled the surgery for the 2nd of june. well i have my pre-op appointment tomorrow and i've gained 4 lbs back. i'm not sure why....but now i'm nervous. he's been pretty strict on wanting me to loose continually so now i'm worried since i've gained he will postpone until i get back to loosing 20 again (he said the other 12 i'll likely loose on my 10 day diet).

anyhow..just needed to vent.

I don't know who your surgeon is but if you are a patient of WeightWise, Doc Broussard or Walton they are very strict and would most likely re-schedule.  My sister-in-law was a patient of Dr. Gornichecc  3 years ago and at that time she didn't have to loose any pre-surgery weight but she didn't have but 100 pounds to loose and the insurance requirement for her she had to be 100 pounds over weight or something like that.  The worse that could happen is postpone your surgery for a bit but they are looking out for your health by requiring the pre-surgery weight loss.  Good luck to you!! =)

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

CLIMB BACK ON THE WAGON AND GO AGGRESSIVELY. SHOW HIM THAT YOU CAN DO THIS AND THEN YOU CAN GET THE SURGERY AND GET ON WITH IT! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!
40 LBS LOST PRE-OP

I completely know what you mean. I was told to lose only 12 lbs (ONLY!) and after the first month I wasn't losing very fast on a semi-regimented diet, but I was losing, although I was teeter-tottering and it scared me. The dietician said if I wanted to really get it off, quickly, I should adjust my diet to either 3 protein shakes a day and 2 protein bars or vice-versa. I have to tell you, IT WORKS.

I drink 2 AdvantEDGE protein shakes (Wal Mart) per day and have 3, sometimes 4 (if I'm really doing a lot and hungry) Zone protein bars and LOTS of water. I can promise you, you won't be hungry, but you probably won't be 'satisfied'. I laugh at that...because being satisfied to me is eating something that we like, which is probably bad for us, and which is the reason we're all doing this life changing surgery! RIGHT????

So, with a little diversion here and there (usually once a week) I've kept off the 12 plus have lost 3 more and my surgery is next Weds and am SOOOOO EXCITED I can barely contain myself. YOU CAN DO THIS.

Venting is good. Hang in there! End of June is not that far away......

From my experience the 4 lbs could be water weight.  I am continuing to loose my wt very slowly, but I fluctuate about 3 lbs all the time because of water weight gain. Just a thought.  Since you haven't had surgery yet, if it were me I would take an over the counter diuretic water pill the day before weigh in, but that's just what I would do, you can make your own decision about that.  I hope that you can obtain the 32 lb goal, and that your surgery doesn't have to be rescheduled.  Good Luck.

whos your surgeon?
most are strict about the amount they want you to lose. I wouldnt count on losing 12 pounds from the ten day diet cause you might not do that.
start doing low carb slim fast for bfast and a protein supplement shake for snacks and that will help you to lose weight..the suggestion of an over counter diuetric is  a good one but I doubt you will lose 4 pounds in one day doing that...
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

hey all. just wanted to thank everyone for their words! i went to the doctor yesterday and the surgery is still on. he said the weight loss wasn't a requirement just a suggestion (which he didn't make clear earlier). but....with that said, I'm extremely anemic and he's requiring me to get my blood count up to more than 10 (a normal person's is about a 40 I believe). so..here's to another hurdle :) i know i can jump it...with a little help from iron pills!!
