Hi, i am in the 90 day process required by the insurance company, i will go for the 90 day update on the first of june. right now, i am needing some motivation for working out, i have lost a little weight, unfortunately, i want to lose more before surgery, so i have a set work out routine by the time im all healed up.

i have a hard time with strangers, and new people, so its a stretch for me to post this. i have a lot of very unhealthy  ppl around me all of the time, and i cannot look to them to support me. i am also working on changing eating habits from eating meat, and any dairy to vegetarianism, then finally veganism, not only for the health benefits, also for the moral side of veganism. something that is also going to be difficult as i like dairy quite a bit, even if it is skim milk and fat free cheese lol.

thanks for any input, and assistance. i could really use a work out buddy or five lol. for about 4-5 evenings a week most weeks. ~j~

Welcome to our OH board.  We are here to help and encourage you any way we can.  You might start by going to your local support group meeting at your facility.  I believe there is one this Saturday that I read about earlier.  You will meet all kinds of people who have been where you are and will help you thought this journey and support you.  You are going to have to find some really good protein substitues if you plan to go total veganism.  That is a MUST for weight loss surgery patients.  Lots and lots of protein are necessary along with a minimum of 64 ozs of water per day.  Good luck to you!!!  (by the way, I don't know of too many of us who started out "enjoying" the work out stuff).  I personally have been a walker and go to Curves for Women.  I think for me it is less intimidating for me where there are only women.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

Hi, Jenny.
Welcome to the OK forum. Everyone here is very supportive. Even though I'm from Kansas, if I can be of encouragement to you, I'd love to do so.
What surgery are you pursuing? Do you have a date yet? I know you're on your 3-month insurance requirement (if I read your post correctly).
I'm not too big on exercising (yet), but it's easy for me to encourage others to do it. LOL
Have a great day.
Blessings,
Mary

Welcome to the OK OH Forum.  You have come to the right place.  I joined about the first of the year and had surgery on 4-7.  I'm addicted to reading and learning for all the fellow OK OH friends.  I started out my exercise program by walking and just adding a little bit each day.  I have been released to do more as of last week, but with mothers day and all I have procrastinated, its so easy to do.  Set small goals for yourself and increase them as you go along.

Welcome to OH -- the best group there is!

Where in OK do you live? That will help with locating work out buddies.

hey girl,

starting your workout routine isnt easy, but once you get started your going to look foward to going everyday! (unless im just a freak lol). id start out with a little cardio and go from there, building up your momentum and longating your routine every week :)

where do you live in ok? i am moving to norman from nj  in 2 1/2 weeks!

i used to be veggie for 4  years and vegan for about 2 months (this was prior to wls). i think this will be a little difficult after the surgery and quite expensive also. cheese is sometimes your bff after surgery, lol and like others said you really need to keep on top of your protein intake like woaah.

i completely agree with your moral decisons (thats why i began to do it all too, but then it started messing w/ my periods and stuff and i had to start inducing them after not having it for 6 months, and i began craving meat again)

but anyways, i would ask your nut if she has a veggie diet plan for after surgery because shes probably dealt with others that live that sort of lifestyle also.

if you want to chat you can always email me @ [email protected] . id be glad to help you with anything you need and def work out together!
congrats on taking the first steps for wls and making this post!
