Hello Everyone, I just want to know if anyone has ever done this. Like today i seem to be so depressed i can't stand it. I don't have any reason what so ever to be like this, but it is all i can do to smile. What is wrong with me? Do you think it is cause we have not had much sun light or is their something truly wrong with me. I know i have been a little worried about eating to much cause i got to start solid this week. I have really had great weight lose so far and i just don't want to mess that all up. I don't get to have my first fill tell May 28th. Sorry to vent but i just want to know if i am the only one that has done this . Thanks for your help. Arliene

I have heard it is very common to become depressed after WLS. Something about hormones. I would suggest asking your doc for a referal to a councelor. I have been on meds for depression/anxiety for the last 2 yrs & I have not taken them since the day before surgery. So far I seem to be doing ok, tomorrow I go to the doc and plan to ask him what he thinks about the situation. I hope you feel better soon!

Ok Airlene my friend I need a couple of answers. This depressed feeling has it been around awhile or is it just starting? If it has only been that way for a couple of days then it could be a weather related blah! But if it goes  past a few days already or continues or it gets more intense you need to call Dr.  immediately. That being said the surgery and weight loss after wards does make your emotions go haywired for awhile. (I'll let you know when I get mine lined out how long it took me.) I have found I cry at really weird things anymore. And remember you are basically mourning the loss of a friend, food, and even though we are glad to be losing the weight and such by now you are really wanting something solid and realizing that you no longer have that comfort you had from food before. If it is bad enough for you to question please call the office tomorrow and tell them you want to see the therapist you did for your evaul before surgery.

You came to the right place to vent!!!
This Crappy weather is the reason for lots of blues!  However your's probably is a combination of both.
Your body is going through changes.  You are having to give up your friend...Food!  You are worried about your eating.  You are worried about worrying!  See where I'm going????  Its a combination.  If you don't start to feel better in a day or so I would call the dr.  But for now sit down and take stock of all you have been through and the wonderful journey you are on.  You are going to feel so much better soon.  I know those Wow moments make everyone feel soooooo much better!
Remember you aren't alone!  You have all of us and we are always here!
I wish you the best!
Hugs
Kim J!

I have talked to more people who have gone through this too...I sure have and it was before the weather. It seemed to be 1 1/2 months out that mine started. I had no idea why, but I did cry alot over nothing.....It comes and goes...Maybe it's hormones or whatever, but it is real.I still have some really bad days.  I can't say when it goes away or if it really goes away, but I do know it's real and I have had issues with it too, as well as others on here have. If it helps to know others have it then maybe that will be a comfort to you....I don't share about it much because I too wondered if it was part of this process or not....I'm glad you did post. I hope the good weather ahead will bring a smile back onto your face! Hang in there!

Arlene,  I have been on medication for depression for many years, (it runs in my family). When I had my phys appointment the doc said I would go thru phase's of depression after surgery and to not try to go off the medication for at least 1 year or until I was at goal.  She said it was just something everyone goes thru.  But I agree with the others if it doesn't get better I would call the doctor and maybe they can help.
