WELCOME TO THE BOARD!! MY NAME IS KIM AND I LIVE IN MCALESTER. I HAD THE SLEEVE IN JUNE 2008. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS AND WOULD RECCOMMEND THIS SURGERY AND MY SURGEON TO ANYONE LOOKING INTO THIS. I CAN'T HELP YOU WITH INSURANCE QUESTIONS BECAUSE MY STUPID INSURANCE WOULDN'T PAY AND I HAD TO GET A LOAN FOR IT BUT I WOULD DO IT AGAIN. MY ONLY REGRET IS THAT I DIDN'T DO IT SOONER!! Your decision to have WLS is a grand one. For me I chose RNY because its the GOLD STANDARD of all WLS. But as others have said its a personal decision. PLEASE DO ALOT of research before you decide. Know the pros and cons of each and how they would "fit" into your life.
As for insurance...I was the rarity.my paperwork was submitted On Thursday and OWLO recieved my approval the same day. And has paid 100% of all my surgeries I have had since.
My rny date was 11/5/2007 and I am currently 18 months post op with a total weight loss if 295 pounds...
