Mother's Day and other OT Rantings :)
Hi everyone! I am venting here. Before I start, Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers on the board...now those of us with only four legged babies are mothers too! :)
I'm bummed because my sister was going to get our mother and bring her to my house for the weekend, so we could spend the weekend with her for Mother's Day. Today I got the bad news that one of my students has been quarantined with Type A flu, the same strand that Swine Flu comes from. I spent about 3 hours on Wednesday closed up in my small classroom with this student sitting face to face with me across the table. The incubation period for Type A flu is 3 days. So to make a long story short, I have decided that Mama cannot come to my house for the weekend. I hated to tell her that, but she was understanding. I've never missed a Mother's Day with my mother, but she's 80 years old, I just can't take the risk that she might contract some deadly virus, even if I don't get the flu, she may. I just sent another student home with flu-like symptoms, from the same class as the other one. Oh joy!
On a brighter note, I think (knock on wood) that I've broken my month long stall. Although during that month long stall, I changed clothing sizes three times, so I think it was a catch up time for my body, not a stall...I'm not recording a weight until Tuesday, but so far, so good!
I hope you all have a great weekend. I'm looking forward to vegging out I guess! Maybe I'll clean house from top to bottom!
Hugs,
Marsha

I am so sorry you will miss Mother's Day with your mom. But, you are right- the risk is too high with an 80 year old mom. You are almost certainly going to stay healthy but I agree it is too risky. If you let your Mom know how much you love her the other 364 days of the year then you are way ahead of the curve! You can have a pretend Mother's Day once you know you are in the clear with the stinkin' flu!
I am very sorry that you can't physically be with he rbut you are taking care of her by protecting her. with the confirmed cases here in Oklahoma now you can not be too safe. crossing fingers for an end to the scales not really moving. I am heading into one of those myself I think but if I can keep losing sizes I will be happy.
