Surgery Date
Yipee I have a surgery date for May 18th. I have my preop appt and lab this Thursday. NOw my husband and mom who have been supportive up to this point are starting to freak out. I guess they thought I was joking until I got a surgery date. They keep asking me "are you sure this is really what you want to do? This is going to change your life forever", and I want to say of course it is. This is going to change my life for the better isn't that what weight loss is about anyway a lifestyle change. I know I am making the right decision how do I get them back on board?
Congrats on your surgery date! I'm sorry that they are not totally on board with you at this point but...they will watch you and you will show them how serious your are about this life change by your actions. People who don't walk in our shoes can't possibly understand where we are and where we are going. They may never get on board but you just have to do what you have to do for yourself for a change. Most of us have NEVER done for ourselves first and some of that is the reason we are where we are. Good luck and you couldn't be in better hands!!! Welcome to our OK Board!!!
Tell them that you have thoroughly researched this plan and that you are certain it is the right choice for you and that you need their support. Look how many living examples of success you have right on this very board?
Which procedure are you having!
Much good luck! They're probably just scared!

being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
Yahoo for you!! Making more room on the loser's bench for you. I hope I am correct when I say that your family will calm down & be there for you, I think it's more difficult to see a loved one go to surgery than it is to have surgery. My DH had seen me through 2 major surgeries prior to my band so he chose to stay home when I had that surgery (worked out great, my sister-in-law is an RN & she came & took great care of me!! DH would have slept through me asking for help!! LOL). Anyway, you will be well taken care of by your loving family when the time comes. Best wishes!!
