Do You Snack?
I'm so relieved to read all of your posts! I thought I was the only "bad" girl around. I snack, and lately it hasn't been good snacks. I'm trying to remedy that though. At first I was keeping almonds at my desk and mid morning I'd have a few....then they...they being PTO....starting bringing snacks to the lounge....well this week it has been a snacking hell in the lounge. We have been testing all week so they have kept us in food. I did well today...I didn't even go in there all morning, until I went in to heat up my lunch that I took...not the junk food they had. Tonight I decided it's time to get back on the wagon, so I grilled a steak, and grilled some summer squash and mushrooms in a foil packet. It was delicious and I have enough for three or four more meals. I haven't lost any weight in about a month and I'm getting discouraged, so I'm really striving to get back on the wagon because I want to get this stuff gone!
Hugs,
Marsha

I do snack, but it is much different than in the past. Snacks now are small amounts and non-carb snacks. Pork rinds are one of my favorite and give me protein too. My first carb snack was a sliver of cake on my my husband's birthday in March and another small sliver on mine last week. As for Dr Walton -- I have been honest with him and he was fine.
With all of my complications, at first, I ate several snacks as well as my meals because I could only get a couple of bites in a time. Now that I'm eating better, I still find that I get hungry an hour or so after I eat. I will admit that I still have issues with my fluids and Dr. B knows it, but I do the best I can, including drinking semi-flat Diet Dr. Pepper to get my fluids in. But I do try to eat healthy snacks like Pork Rinds and I do not feel so bad about it. I do not eat a lot still but I can definitely get some bad carbs down too easily. I am working on improving my meals and eating less snacks but we are human and I do not beat myself up if I make a bad choice. I did pick up some protein bars today at WW and they seem to help me, especially when I have a sweet tooth.
Yes, I have snacks. I try to choose healthy protein snacks but sometimes some chocolate attacks me and jumps into my mouth.
When I saw Dr. Walton for my 6 month he was not happy I had let carbs come back into my life. But, that is the point- it is MY life. I am in control for the first time in my life. I don't obsess about food 24 hours a day. I actually forget I have naughty food in the house. I brought home some birthday cake a few weeks ago and forgot it was in the fridge until it was too old to eat. Now, that would have never happened befoe WLS.
I think you are making wise choices in your snacks. No lectures from me- although you may need to give me one. You make better choices than I have.

I have been absolutely naughty this last several days. This is the 2nd time since I've had surgery since my "friend" came to visit (sorry fellas) and I just want carbs and chocolate.
Not to help matters any, my boss has vending machines--the type where you put a quarter and get a hand full of candy. Anyway, he decided it was time to clean a machine and brought half a box (copy paper size) of loose skittles, runts, and peanut m&ms. I have been able to restrain myself to eating candy just one day, but I've been paying for it for 3 days now.
I also find that I get hungry about 4:30 in the afternoon and if I don't eat a snack, I eat supper too fast and that's not good, so I keep some lowfat cottage cheese and I'll have a couple of spoon fulls of that.

Hello my name is sarah and I SNACK!!! But I do try to choose high protien snacks and give myself plenty of time before a real meal if I am snacking. Almonds and jomemade beef jerky is my favs and boosty protien as well. I also try to keep a protien bar in teh car in case I need something fast. If I wait to long I eat to fast and too much soooo. I will have to quite the bars in teh car soon. We all know what Oklahoma summers do to things in cars. I also do protien shakes every morning for breakfast because I just can't bring myself to eat a real breakfast most of the time.

My name is Renae and I admit to snacking. I try to be smart about it, but... I have to admit I have a HUGE addiction to Funyuns. Weirdly enough, they are listed on the Eat This side of my Eat This, Not That Supermarket Survival Guide, but I know they still aren't the best thing for me to be eating. I don't have too much of a problem with sweets, but lately I've been wanting Ben & Jerry's (and I'm lactose intolerant, so that would NOT be a good idea). I have not touched the ice cream, I am proud to say. I do love Beef Jerky (different types, flavors). That is an awesome snack! I definitely won't be lecturing :)

I'M SO GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE DOING THIS! I DO TRY TO EAT ALMONDS OR CASHEWS BUT SOMETIMES I EAT PEANUT BUTTER FILLED PRETZEL NUGGETS. OMG THOSE ARE MY WEAKNESS! I LOVE THOSE LITTLE THINGS! AND CORNUTS! I AM SO BAD AND I FEEL SO GUILTY SOMETIMES BUT I GETOVER IT AND MOVE ON. I TRY TO DO BETTER THE NEXT DAY BUT ALAS I FALL AGAIN! I'M GONNA BLAME IT ON STRESS RIGHT NOW!
I have not snacked but I really wanted to. Last night I went with my family to braums and had to sit there and watch them eat ice cream. I wondered if the low carb icecream would be an OK idea? In the past when I cheated on a diet, I never could get back on the wagon so that is the main reason I haven't snacked.
