Down in the dumps...

I only lost 1/2 a pound this week. I am not eating alot. I started out the week at 198 about 2 days later I was down 1 pound then 2 days later gained it back and at the end of the week I had only lost 1/2 a pound. What did I do wrong. Each week I lose less and less until now I wonder if I am through losing? I am afraid to eat now and thinking of just drinking and doing away with the eating. I am not hungry anyway. Thanks for listening.

DON'T GIVE UP!! WE ALL GO THRU THIS. IF I DON'T GET TO GO TO THE BATHROOM,IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, THEN I DON'T LOSE ANYTHING. SO I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I GO ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. ALSO THAT TIME OF THE MONTH PLAYS WITH ME. THERE ARE LOTS OF REASONS BUT YOU WILL GET OVER THIS BUMP IN THE ROAD. YOUR BODY IS ALSO PROBABLY GOING HEY WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME?

You cannot just "stop" eating - your body must have fuel in order to have any metabolism to lose weight.  If you don't provide it your body will use essential chemicals that will cause you to become dehydrated, anemic, sluggish, yada yada...

It is ESSENTIAL for you to contact your dietitian and go over your food journals and see where you diet can be tweeked.  There is a reason they are available to us - to help us.  You also need to put away the scales for now - focus on getting your nutritional needs, exercise, water.  You are still early in your journey and these are the things you should be formimg habits on.

My suggestion is to make a call asap and schedule with your dietitian immediately.  You can lose ground quickly and you need to stop that directional downfall.  Your mindset is just as important - you need to develop good habits now while your body is adjusting.

Hang in there - no one said it was going to be easy.....

WHAT?!?!?!  I thought this was supposed to be the "EASY way!"   All "those people" said I was taking the "EASY way...."       bstards...

But seriously - thank you, Ruth for sharing your experience and knowledge with all of us.  It really does help to be able to hear from those who have gone down the road before us.

Love ya,

I am in the same boat, Wyldegirls.  I lost 110 pounds in record time without trying too hard.  I just followed the plan.  Then I started creeping back up and gained 3 back when I did the weekly weigh-in this week.  I'm very disappointed.  I know we all go through it but it's still a rotten time.

I still eat and do what I am told.  I know in my head it will work itself out but the emotional part of me isn't dealing with it well.

Hang in there Winnie!  I promise your weight will come off.  You are doing fantastic and your body just needs time to catch up with itself and you will shed some more.  Everyone hits a stall and yep officially you are stalled.  But it doesn't last long...at least not at the point where you are.  Happycat stalled big time after her surgery and look at her now!

Hang in there.  The weight will come off.  Your body just freaks out and holds on to it from time to time and then suddenly you will drop several pounds.  Later on though it does get tougher to lose the weight.  I lose about 1 lb a week and sometimes none.

I wish I had gained a pound earlier.  My weight crept down, sometimes slowly, sometimes not at all-but never UP.  After awhile, I became almost phobic about it.  When the scale finally DID go up-all the feelings of "this is the beginning of the end came crashing in....." Only, I realized, that it WASN'T the beginning of the end.

Part of the problem with successful weight loss is that we get into a biggest loser mindset and focus on the scale too much-and sometimes lose site of the bigger picture-health.  You didn't get your surgery to develop a surgical eating disorder did you?  You got it to be healthy.  Focus on that (and try not weighing every day).

I really wanted to be at my goal by christmas so this makes me feel like I won't make it. I also made a bill to have this surgery and I feel like it was totally worth it but when you lose little to nothing, the sacrifice to pay it doesnt seem as "ok". I did the post and had to leave and take my kids to school so when I came home and saw all the responses to the post my heart was lifted. As always you all are great and an encouragement.
