hey girls and guys :)

i was wondering what you were eating after one month post op? i am getting pretty bored w/ my current menus and want to spice it up a bit!

my boyfriend made some great turkey chilli the other night and chicken catchatorie went over well a week or so ago, but im craving something to give me a mouth ****** or something!

im doing great managing my head hunger, but sometimes i just wish i could have a piece of bread!

oh and im just curious also, this morning, i GAGGED after taking one sip of my normal protein shake (syntrax nectar iced tea) and vommed a little. i am experiancing bad sinus allergies at the moment but i dont know if the 2 are interchangable. i spoke to somebody at work who had the surger 12/22
and she said ever since she had rny she cant eat in the morning or the same thing happens. i am also pms'ing. i dont know if my gagging has to do w/ any of that or its something else?

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! esp reciepes i love cooking new stuff!

xoxo

Part of the problem with an answer is that everyone's doctor is different-some folks were still on liquids post op 30 days.

My mouth was ******ing over refried beans from taco bell-but it still does.... Taco bell RF are the only low fat fast food ones I know of-otherwise it's better to get them from a can.

I was also (and still am) fond of Wendy's chili but I don't have a boyfriend to make me a bowl of chicken chili.

It's summer here already, so I'm heavily into tuna again these days-it goes down easy, stays down, high in protein.  But I don't make it the same way every day (and sometimes I use salmon).

Usually tuna/chicken/salmon salad involves some light mayo and some combination of:

garlic -never enough of this

horseradish

malt vinegar

mustard

sweet california basil (I'm running out)

Not all of this at once, but as a one two punch to the mayo.  Or, sometimes I just skip the mayo and splash on some greek dressing and call it a tuna salad.

For dinner tonight I split a tub of brown rice with the birds-and put blueberry greek yogurt on my half of the brown rice.....viola-rice pudding!  (it works with plain/vanilla and cinnamon too-but the blueberry was fixing to go out of date). But if you can't or won't eat rice, that wouldn't work for you.

Hopefully someone who cooks will come along.  I remember being soooo sick of sweet stuff I once made (and consumed) a tuna shake (and liked it).

Since we don't know what your dietary restrictions are from your doc we really can't give good advice.  At your point post-op I was on stage 2 of soft foods whi*****luded white fish such as tilapia, deli meats, beans, cheeses, tuna, eggs, and I think some shrimp.  I lived on tilapia, tuna, and string cheese.  I also used lots of spices to make things tastier.  Follow your surgeon's instructions carefully- they exist for a reason.

I will tell you that as you advance your diet you will find foods that don't work for you- put them away and try again in a few weeks.  Also, some days you will be able to eat more than others.  I still have times like that at almost a year out.

I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

as of right now i am on a soft diet.

everything you suggested is on my list :)

i learned my lesson w/ foods that dont work! my nut suggested special k with protein added , i tried eating 2 days in a row and both times were BAD!

i have now not tried it again.. maybe eventually!

I'm just a little over a month out and I'm living on Deli meat, Eggs, Salmon, Shrimp, and applesauce. I occasionally do salad and I experiment with different variations of ommlets. Lately I've been melting cheese over my deli meat and having things like Hot ham and cheese, or Roast beef and cheadar (without the bread of corse). I recently bought some Turkey sausage, but I haven't tried it yet. Oh I also get thoes skinless chicken breast patties from walmart. they microwave in just a min or two and have a great smoked flavor. and they're really good protien.
