Plastic Surgery...GOOD Idea or BAD option?

So it's been 13 months since I had the RNY and I'm down 110 lbs. Needless to say all the weight has left alot of burdensome saggy skin. So, as much as I had hoped it wouldn't come to this, I am now looking into P.S. My RNY was done by a surgeon in Wichita Falls, who I loved, but unfortunately I just moved east of OKC so going back to him is not an option. Do you know of any good surgeons in the OKC area? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, as I have only heard bad things about getting plastic surgery done. I'd love to hear from anyone who has had it done! Thanks!

Weight Wise in Edmond usually suggests Dr. Panchal and Dr. Sawan for their patients when they are ready for plastics.  If I had the money I would have already done the plastics I need and want.  If you can afford it- go for it!

You may want to get second and 3rd opinions from plastics guys until you find someone you feel comfortable with.  Good luck.

I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I haven't had plastic surgery (yet!  )  It is definitely in my future.  Everyone I've ever talked to has been thrilled with the results so I'm all for it.  The only hard decision for me is picking the body part I wanna start with!  LOL!

If I had the money I would do it in a heartbeat and without a doubt, I would use Dr. Kamal Sawan. My opinion is just like WLS, it has to be a personal choice that only you should and could make.

Hey there (and to those of you who think I dropped off the planet.....I haven't!!)

My sleeve surgery was May 12 of 08.  I've lost 110 since then and been at, and a little below, goal since December.  After thinking long and hard, I decided to have an arm lift, breast lift and augmentation.  A very close friend was having a tummy tuck and "interviewed" about 7 different plastic surgeons.  We both decided on Dr. Derek Shadid and couldn't be happier!  I had surgery February 9 and my scars are already almost non existent.  He did AMAZING work and is an absolute perfectionist.  I know there are many others out there, but he was the guy for me.  PLUS, my husband and I LOVED the fact that he did the consult with us in a living room type area and all my clothes were on!  (His pricing was also about middle of the road).  I may or may not have a tummy tuck (could use a LBL).  When/if I do, I'll use Dr. Derek though.

Like Crickett said; it's totally a personal choice as to what surgery and what Dr. works for you.  Best of luck to you!  Bring on summer - My bat wings are gone!!!

I had  a tummy tuck on my one year anniversary the surgeon who did it was Dr. Cynthia Nydick.
I had it done so soon because I had medical problems with rashes, gaulding and I had MRSA. So the choice was PURELY medical.
Just remember alot of PS do not want to do any surgeries unless you are 18 months post op and have been at goal for awhile. And some of the good ones do not accept insurance. I went to a seminar for one that was highly recommended...but he refuses to work on anyone that has alot of incisions from previous surgeries and he doesnt accept any forms of insurance.
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

Holly,

I haven't made it to a goal/stable weight yet, so no personal experience.  (Unlike Miss Kim, however, I am ABSOLUTELY certain which body part to start with if I ever get to that point.)

My mother, however, had RnY in 2004, and has had two different plastic surgeries with Dr. Robert Hein at Mercy.  She was thrilled with him, and the results are amazing.  In late 2007 she had a circumferential LBL and then in late 2008 she had her arms done and her torso re-tucked.

As others have said, you kind of have to find the Dr. you feel best about.  I know that Mother had interviews with about 5 different doctors before she found Dr. Hein.

Good luck with your search!

I know for a fact that Dr. W. wouldn't reccomend Dr. Panchal, and after meeting him in person at a support group meeting, I know why.... Anyway, I know that you don't know me but I live about 90 miles south of OKC and if you could drive that far, then I would be willing to go with you the rest of the way to WTF and we could get our apts for the same day. That would save you about half the trip....just a thought. let me know!

Dr Warnock did my TT at 17 mos post-op (6 weeks after I had Krysten) and I had a hernia repair at the same time.  Dr Quang Tu in Midwest City did my breast redux.  I really like Dr. Tu a lot.  Dr Warnock didn't really know anything about him, but he was appointed by Tricare.  Dr Warnock had Dr Juan Brou speak at one of our meetings in WF a while back.  I hope that helps!
