Made my first Goal

Well, I made my first goal, to be down to 420 by the day of surgery. I weighted this morning and was 418.4.  YEAH!!   This has been a very long journey.  I orginally started this journey 3 yrs ago. but only then at my dr. urging.  This time it is for ME!!  I started last July when I weighed in at my TOPS meeting 5 lbs under my highest weight of 506.75.  I can usually get to the 100 lb mark, but then give up and start eating again and there goes the weight, I start gaining again. But this time it is so different.  I am so ready for this surgery!  I want to get this weight off and be healthier. I'm tired of not being able to do the things that I want to.
Surgery is Tuesday!!!! 1 more day of clear liquids before surgery!!

I have a 19 yr old daughter, who thinks she knows everything of course. but she is so embarressed by my weight that she doesn't want to do anything or go anywhere with me.   I want her to be proud of me.  I want to set a good example for her even though she doesn't talk to me right now and has moved out of the house.  But I know one day that will change.    All I can do for her right now is pray for her and be there when she does want to talk to me.
thank you all for listening to me and for the support you all have given me.

Congrats on reaching that first goal. You are going to do great at this surgery. Your daughter will come around eventually. I will add a healing for your family to my prayers.

I read your post, and I couldn't help but think that you are a wonderful example of what I just wrote in my Life Plan Devotion #75, which I'll be posting tomorrow morning. Is that mean, to make you wait? :)
I'm so excited for you! God's Stamp of Approval has been all over your WLS journey. Does your daughter know that you're having surgery Tuesday? If not, find a way to let her know. It may open the door.
My prayers continue to be with you. May the peace of the Lord, which passes all understanding be in your heart and mind, as you take the next step to a new you. It's going to be awesome!
Blessings,
Mary

Yes Mary, it is mean to make me wait, but wait I will.
and Yes my daughter does know that I am having surgery tuesday.  I told her last week, she didn't want to be there or even when I asked her is she wanted to be on teh call list to be notified after surgery she said no to that too. so she will just have to find out another way. I know there are a couple of church people that will contact her and let her know.

Congrats Sudsie for reaching your first goal.  It is going to be an awesome journey for you indeed.  It sounds as if you like so many of us have put your daughter first for so long and neglected yourself.  I'm so glad you are taking this step for YOU.  It's just a shame that so many young people are so shallow.  I'm sure she has NEVER embarassed you EVER!!!  I pray for your safe surgery and a speedy recovery.  I also will pray that your daughter will see the "real" you and get past her shallowness.  You will be the same person at 200 pounds as you are now.  They aren't doing brain or heart surgery and I KNOW you have a big heart.  Take care and we have your place all ready for you on the "LOOSER's BENCH"!!   (((HUGS)))

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

Every step along this path will make you feel better and better about yourself. I found over the years that no matter what I weighed, I was an embarrasment to my kids....then I realized that is just teenagers in general. It is not cool to be friends with your parents. For some it is but for most....no way! You are right....Do this for yourself. It is your time to be important! Hang in there and you are doing great!!

Congratulations on your goal -- will be the one in the LONG list of goals achieved.  I am so excited for your surgery on Tuesday, and will be praying for you.  I am sorry for the situation with your daughter.  I have an 18 yr old daughter that also knows everything, and will not listen to a word I say.  Although we are still close, it is VERY frustrating.  I can't wait till the day that they  realize how immature and basically stupid there were (to put it bluntly).   Good luck, Michael

I am so happy that you have reached your first goal! Just one of I know will be many!
Sweetie I have never been a Mom but I have played the role of one. So my simple advice is this...if you have no control over another person so let them be....Sooner or later they will come back and when they do ITS YOUR CHOICE in what kind of relationship you want with them.
Sounds like your daughter DOES NOT KNOW WHAT She has with you as a Mother. I just pray that she will wake and realize that before its to late. My Mom and Dad use to say this...When I am dead and you have to look at me in my coffin, are you going to be filled with regrets saying to me with deaf ears how sorry you are and how much you wish I was there just for a minute? Or will you be standing there, Full of grief knowing you have done everything you should have done as my child.
I picked the later..my parents have been gone 25 years and I miss them everyday
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
