I am 4 weeks post op today and I started walking on monday night. I walked a mile on monday, than a mile on tues afternoon and 2 miles tues night, and a mile last night. I do not have head hunger I really don't eat much and still get nauseated and sometimes throw up after I eat. I am really scared because last week I got on the scales at my friends work and they said 315. My husband bought me a digital scale last week and it said 322. I know that no scale weighs the same. I had my friend come over and it was about 5 lbs off so that made me feel better. But my worry is I am not loseing this week at all I have lost over 40lbs and now the scales won't move. I don't want to think I have had wls for just 40lbs. Has this happened to anyone else.

hihi,
i had surgery 4 days after you.

the llast time i was at the dr's they told me not to expect a huge weight loss in the next few weeks and its completley normal!

since we are all now adjusting from liquid to mushies to soft foods, at first our bodies go into shock it actually has food in it!

what is working for me its staying hydrated, keepin up with my protein and lots of exercise. if im not hungry my nut told me to have an extra protein shake durin the day. and i have also heard in other places the higher protein intake you have the more weight you can lose!

i know you were in the hospital a few weeks ago for dehydration, have you lost all the water weight yet from getting an iv? just a guess.

and DONT GIVE UP!! you did not have wls just to lose 40 pounds! i have to remind myself all the time to be patient! its not just going to melt off of us thaaat quick! its almost been a month for us! just think of 6 months from now! i cant even imagine, we're going to be sknny minnies!!

good luck!  stay positive!

I felt the same way.  My weight loss seems so slow.  But now that we have the weekly weigh in...Which I love!  I am happy with my 1-2lbs loss.  I know its not much but its better then I ever did before WLS.  I've even gained a pound every now and then.  Usually I end up losing double the next week.  You will lose weight.  I have a friend that had surgery a few years ago and she didn't lose anything for 4 months.  Now she has maintained her weight loss for years.  She said she thought it wasn't working for her either.  I don't even recognize her when I see her now.
Rome wasn't built in a day!  You'll be fine!

Around my 3rd week I hit a "stall" that last for 2-3 weeks. It is normal and nothing to be worried about. I have been moving along just fine since then. I actually just came off a 2 week "stall" and I'm losing again. Just be patient and try to stay off the scales as much as possible.

You are doing Great!

OK by 2-3 weeks out your body says WHOA NELLIE what are you doing to me. and takes a death grip on the fat you have been losing so far. It is totally common and happens to most everybody. It ios truly just your body readjusting to what it has been through give it a week or two and you will see it moving again. A funny fact is many see a huge change in the way clothes fit for the first time during that readjustment period.  It sounds like bull but you really can lose more inches during that slow down period sometimes than when you are pulling big loss numbers. I hope that helps.

Christina, I am right there with you. I have lost 55 pounds and now I have not lost anything for 2 weeks. I keep thinking I am going to be the only person on earth that only lost 55 pounds after wls. I eat 2 ounces 3 times a day and that is it. I drink my fluids and my protein and it just isn't working. I hope this is just a stall , like I have heard about . Good luck and I will say a prayer for you.

This is exactly why I say measure, measure, measure, before you do this! My scales are at a stand still but I am measuring and my body is changing. I'm ok with my body catching up on this. I'm still losing inches and soon the weight will move again. I can only eat about 700 calories, if that, so it has to have an impact on me eventually. I will say when you begin working out and gaining muscles....they weigh more than fat and you may not realize the changes are happening. Hang in there! It didn't get on overnigh so don't expect it to be gone overnight. I know that eventually I will get to my goal. I'm ok with taking it slow as long as I see the scale going down and not up!

I'm so glad you posted this!! I'm in the exact same boat as you ( this is probably why my Dr. has a strict "no weighing for the first 6 months" rule) But I got on my Wii Fit the other night and and had only lost like 3lbs in two weeks, So I have been freaking out thinking OMG! i'm going to to be the woman trying out for the Biggest looser in 5 years because I WLS didn't work for me!! I'm so glad to know that this is normal and that i'm not the only one!

And yes I have noticed a HUGE change in my clothes, I'm already down from a 22 to a 16!!

I lost 130 pounds like lightning then BAMM I have not lost a pound in months.  Now that might sound discouraging but I am getting more muscle AND my jeans and shirts are getting looser.  I am wearing size 38 mens jeans for the first time in nearly 17 years.  My doc said the next 60 or so pounds i want to lose are going ot come off slowly and might take me a couple of more years to get it all off.  I am okay with that.  Dont get discouraged we all lose at different rates and from different spots on the body.  We all have the same tool, but we are not all working on the same car.  Hope that analogy made a little sense.

I had the sleeve on March 23, 2009.  I lost 15 lbs the first week, 4 lbs the second week, and really nothing since.  I got really scared to eat.  I was (and still am sometimes) afraid that I was going to fail again at weight loss.  I went to support group last week and it really helped me because several people said they had experienced the same thing.  Just like the other comments on here.  It is very common.  We just have to keep doing the right thing.
