Remembering

It's been 14 years and you would think it would get easier.  In some ways, I guess it does, but on this particular day....it is always so fresh.  14 years ago I almost died but got a second chance at life but most of my friends did not.  This morning I remember my 18 friends killed and all the 168 who were killed.

I'm ready for this day to pass because every year after it does I feel a burden lifted off of me.  I've been fighting snacking even more than ever and I know it is because of post traumatic stress disorder.  It comes back every spring when the redbuds start blooming.

I'm headed downtown this morning to honor those killed, then church, and then I'm going to go SHOPPING!!  Can you say transference?! LOL!!!

You guys are great and you totally made my day yesterday and none of you probably realized what a struggle this time of year really can be for me.  Thank you!!!

Amy:

My thoughts are with you today (and always).  Please remember all that you have been through and all the things that you are going to be able to do in the future thanks to your experiences.  You are a strong, courageous and Christlike woman.  There is NOTHING you cannot do, overcome and conquer!

You were spared on that day but you are here for a reason!  Do not ever doubt that! God has huge things for you to do and you are special.  Your friends are special as well but God needed them with him so....

Transference is okay - for a little while - to help you get through the day.  Then put your (not so big) panties back on and step back into the world to continue your work.

Memories are good - build some more!   All my love....Ruth

I never cease to be amazed at how you took such a tragic event and remained positive.  Even during those first few days and weeks afterwards when you were banged up and recovering, you were an encouragement and inspiration to all those around you that had lost family members.  You could have chosen to be bitter, angry, and withdrawn but instead you chose to be positive and a help to others.  Even when you had to attend their funerals in a wheelchair.  We may not ever know all the answers to why you were spared on that day, but we thank God often that you were.  Love ya, Sis

Amy,

My thoughts and continued prayers are with you and all the victims on this day. As a medical person who worked the site within hours and days of the bombing, those images are forever etched in my memory as well.

Ironically, I was also in New York on 9/11!

Enjoy your shopping -- my daughter-in-law and I have the same planned for today.

Wow!  Nancy we have a lot in common!  I bet you were there working when they brought me out around 3:00 p.m.  That is so weird that you ended up in NY on 9/11.  I bet that completely freaked you out.

Let me tell you fist and foremost....you, my friend, are a BEAUTIFUL person.  I'm so happy you have crossed my path.  Your struggle has been long and your triumph have been more than miracles.  I'm so honored to know you and even more blessed to have your sincere friendship in return.

You're an amazing woman and i'm glad that other people see the person you are and the woman you're destined to become.  That tragedy is just a chapter in your exciting life.  You're able to walk through it stronger in the knowledge you've got a loving family, a terrific husband, and a few friends who cherish the life you bring to the table.  Let's not forget you've got a goodlooking pirate of a friend who misses you and thinks you're a terrific woman....
