Wow Moment for a Friend!!!
Last night was our graduate support group meeting at Weight Wise. Those of you who are regulars to our weekly support group know that we have a lady in our group who had to loose 100 pounds pre-op. Most people I know including your's truly probably would have left the facility after hearing you have to loose 100 pounds before surgery. Well, not her, she got all of her pre-op requirements done and even lost 126 pounds (in about 1 year) and had her WLS yesterday. That's true determination! She was walking the halls and showing a friend the facility when we ran into her. I just wanted to cry when I saw her and the smile on her face was priceless. She is such a success story already and will continue to be. It will be AWESOME to follow her and her journey. She isn't a blogger or doesn't enjoy online stuff so we probably won't see her on the forum but just smile when you think about her!!! She's such an awesome person and I know you all are going to embrace her and support her as well!!!
It was a thrill to see her! Her name is Debra and I think at her initial surgical appointment, they told her she had to lose between 85-125 pounds before they would do surgery on her and SHE DID IT!!!
This woman is truly an inspiration and makes my struggles look ridiculous! I couldn't be happier for her!

What a precious story of determination and success! I know she will continue to be successful. I know how hard it was to hear Dr. Walton tell me how much I'd have to lose in order to have surgery, and it was nothing like what she had to lose. I hope you'll keep us posted on her progress.
Blessings,
Mary

You and me both Debra. It couldn't have happened at a better time for me to run into her. It was right after our graduate group and we had had a heavy discussion about our fears being post op. I just forget how far I've come and where I was a year ago. She truly inspired me in a way that no support group meeting could have.

Yep, life is full of fear sometimes. I'd rather fear getting wrinkly skin or sagging boobs as opposed to fearing a heart attack or not being able to make it from the back of the parking lot to the front of the store (let alone make it through the store).
Unfortunately, unless you can afford a lot of cosmetics and counseling, we will always carry some scars and burdens from being over weight, but the burdens are much lighter than they were before. (pardon the pun)
