I am 5'4 " with a BMI of 39 and thinking of having the gastric sleeve with Dr. Broussard.  Any suggestions or comments as I make my decision.

Go for it!  You will love your sleeve as do all of us!  You aren't big enough to really need the RNY and the sleeve would be perfect.  And Dr B is talented, smart and cute on top of all of that!

Ask away - there are bunches of us sleevers here and we're mostly Walton and  Broussard patients.

For me, it's the best thing I've ever done and wouldn't trade if for a million dollars!

After the first two post-op weeks, you'll always wish you had done it sooner...

I my (highly biased) opinion, the sleeve is a great surgery, and can change your life in a matter of weeks or months.

Best of luck with your decision - that's really the hardest part.

If you come across any specifics you have questions about, throw them up here, we'll be glad to help you along the journey.

Dr. B did my sleeve back in July and I love it.  I did have a few complications along the way but I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

I would do it again in a heartbeat...You will not regret it! The first two weeks post-op you may not like it, but after that liquid stage you will wonder why you didn't do it before!

Good Luck with your decision!

I wish I had gotten the VSG when my BMI was 39, instead of waiting until it was over 60, but then again, I doubt Dr. Walton would have operated on a toddler.
(Just kidding, I have no idea what age I would have been with a BMI of 39.)
Go for it! :)

Hi Policekat,

I'm supposed to lose 10 lbs before surgery.  Since you lost 40 lbs before surgery what type of foods did you eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner?  I eat eggs for breakfast.  I'm kind of tired of KFC grilled chicken.  Any receipes you pass to me?  Suggestions.  I love bread and know that is bad....  I am drinking all my water.  I'm going to start exercising today.  My next appointment is April 23, 2009.  I sure I get close to losing the 10 lbs.  I have lost 5 lbs so far please reply.  Thanks.
