For the last 7 years I have been self employed...and because of my surgeries I have lost alot of clients. So this is my puzzle where do I find a job? I have no typing skills or computer skills...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

What kind of work have you been doing as self employed?  What are your strengths?  Are you a people person?

The computer skills will hold you back. But...I'm thinking you can't be that bad because you are posting on here! LOL!  I would take a class at the local votech or something so that you can say you at least have some limited typing and computer skills.  It shouldn't take more than a week or two for you to learn the basics of outlook, word, and excel.

If you just need a J.O.B. and are not that particular then I would shoot for retail work with you past history.  You could get an assistant manager job at some retail shop and work up from there.

Pattye,

Ok I know you lost alot of your clients but I bet you still have alot of contacts in the business. maybe other interior designers you have worked with that knows your work. Let it be known that you are available and your work will help you there. Also if you are wanting to try and get your business going again maybe a temp service where you can work around a schedule you need would be an option, many companies also now prescreen and hire through staffing agencies and temp services.

Sarah,
I have called and asked several people I know about work and at the same time they have called me asking the same thing. My kind of work is in great demand when the economy is great..but it sucks when its not. I even broke down yesterday and talked to a person I swore I would never work for again..just to be told that he didnt have work for his crew.
I went to two temp agencies and it was a slap in my face...I cant type 35 words per minute that are correct.
I was offered a job doing office clean up at $7.50 an hour at Tinker...For me because of where I live, that wouldnt be to smart....

Hey Patti, I have read that the Hobby Lobby stores are among those that haven't been affected by the "recession".  In fact, in the paper today they are giving all Mardel, Hobby Lobby employees raises who are full time.  Their minimum wage at their stores also isn't the $6.50 or whatever but $10.00.  With your decorating skills I would think you might have an "in" in that area in the Hobby Lobby stores.  Just a thought for what it's worth!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!
