What a week!

I had knee surgery last Wednesday.  I have been blessed, in that, as heavy as I have always been, I have never had problems with my knees.  Well a few weeks back in the pool one evening, I felt something, but nothing that would have knocked me to my knees.  After I got out, it was nothing.  Later the next day , which was a Friday, my right knee started bothering me.  My sister took me to ER on Sunday because I couldn't walk when I got out of bed.  The ER doc told me it was arthritis and something I would have to live with since I can't take antiinflammatory drugs.  He wasn't very nice about it either, said I'd have to choose between whether I wanted to walk or my stomach.  Stupid remark for a doctor to make..but he didn't seem too bright anyway.  So I got an appt. with an orthopedic surgeon that my niece works for and sure enough...two tears in the meniscus.  One on each side of my knee.  So I've been recovering from knee surgery and am back at work today.  I can tell you it's going to be a long afternoon...I thought the morning would never pass.  I'm tired, my knee is aching, and I'm ready to go home.  Can you tell I'm also a little grumpy?

As for the eating, I've done pretty well while I was off and sitting around.  I don't think I'm going to weigh this week, just because I'm still really swollen and I don't want to get discouraged.   The doctor said I could go back to the pool as soon as the incisions are healed, in about 2 weeks.  I hope so, I need some exercise.

I hope you're all doing well.  I haven't been able to keep up very well.  The recliner is much more appealing than walking to the computer room.  :)

Hugs,
Marsha

Zap!  That was my magic wand making the afternoon go faster!  (for us all!)

Sounds like you might have gone back to work a little earlier than you should have.  Maybe you should pamper yourself a little more, girlfriend!  So take good care of yourself and I'm sending some happy, glittery vibes your way!

Well, I think you are exceptionally upbeat for what's going on in your life!  I am so glad you got further medical advice, it's amazing to me that there is actually a type of prejudice among some physicians regarding WLS.  I don't see why, especially when they see how dramatically it changes lives and improves health.

Hi everyone!  I came home and the recliner has been where I have stayed most of the evening.  I nearly fell into it.  :)  I am about to get in bed so I can do it all again tomorrow.  I am fighting allergies or sinusistis or something in addition to the knee problem.  As for my attitude, I try very had to stay positive, I work with a few people whose attitudes stink, and it makes everyone miserable.  I try to be the positive one there, and in life also.  I could get down and negative very easily, as most everyone could, but I choose to stay positive.  :)

Hugs,
Marsha

Marsha,

You do have a great upbeat and caring personaility but you deserve to whine sometimes. Take it easy and rest as much as you can from your surgery. And take care of yourself we kinda like seeing you around.
