My Week....

has been interesting to say the least. I had this whole post typed up last night and it got poofed when my dog unplugged my puter. So here goes again. I had been hurting for a couple of days in my lower abdominal/groin area but laid it off to my bad hips and the weather bouncing the way it has been messing with my arthristis, BUT Friday night it went from dang it hurts to OMG someone amputate the pain.and I started in with chills and dry heaves which made the pain worse offo course. SO off to the ER I went and when I got there my blood pressure was out of sight. I was triaged, insuranced and in a room hooked up to an IV in 15 minutes which if you are familar with SouthWest Integris you know was well basically scary in itself. They never get an ER patient back that quick. So after many tests they rulled out all the usual culprits, I have no gall bladder,  it wasnt kidney related, no female infection, no appedisitis (Nasty test for that) so I was released hours later in a phenagran and morphine haze still not knowing anything. Needless to say I spent that weekend in the same haze and early Tuesday morning my doctor came in and said well it might be ovarian cysts which iw what we will check for first. They scheduled my an ultrasound for yesterday morning and I lived the week in pain or in a drug haze. Now I still don't know for sure what it is but the tech bles sher heart was such a sweetie and when it was done I aske dher point blank. "I know you can't give me a diagnosises and you are not the actual one *****ads them but you see enough everyday you know if you saw something unusual so did you?" Her answer was a definate I saw something. I had a few bad moments but I stealed myself and have made up my mine I am too onary and have went through to much to get where I am right now for anything to knock me out. But that being said if everyone will say a prayer that I am the woman of steel I think I am and that I will beat whatever this is in my sleep I would appreciate it.

Oh Sarah!  I'm so sorry you're going through this now.  I am sending up prayers for you to get the pain under control and that it is nothing that you can't handle.

I just have to say I had an ultrasound here at Saint Francis Hospital on Thursday for excruciating pain for about 3 weeks off and on.  I was in so much pain I thought some one shot me in the side.  They diagnosed my with ovarian cysts also  I didn't realize the pain involved.  So I asked my doctor how to get rif of them she said "just take birth control pills and they won't form again".  Well I am 40 years old, had all the kids I want so I am going to try and yank those puppies out of me.  I figure there a liability anyway for me.  I hear your pain.  I think it was about as bad if not worse that labor pain.  I have been on pain meds also for a week and I feel groggy all the time.  Good luck and I hope you do ok.  I will say a prayer for you also.  

Thank you all. I wanted them to do a hysterectomy in August of 2007 when they did the NovaSure on me but due to my age and yes my weight at the time they didnt want to do it right then so I am figuring here we go because I refuse to go back on BC pills after so many years off them,

I am sure you know what I am about so here goes anyway. If it is cysts they can be removed..they are not cancerous..so not going there.
As for the hystertomy..I will be the first one to tell you that you should have said I WANT IT AND I WANT IT NOW! the excuse of your weight and age is BULL crap..they say that cause if you had one and then later you might want another child you would be screwed. When I was 18 I was told that I needed one. But like you my age was a factor. so here I am 43 years old with the bicycle motor factory that cant produce anything but I still have the machineary it just doesnt work. IF I had known what I know now I would have had the surgery...
As I have said you have to be proactive or you wont be taken care of. PLease keep me informed. I am here for you as always.....hugs and prayers for ya

I will definitely be praying for you.  It is a difficult situation to go through, especially waiting for the test results and treatment plan.  Just be an advocate for yourself and ask all the questions you need to ask.  I had my hyst at age 40, the doctor didn't want to take my ovaries but I told him I didn't want to go back to surgery in 10 years to have them out.  I am a nurse so I know that there are wonderful doctors out there who will do whats right and what's best, but I also know that sometimes you have to find the right doctor after seeing one who's not so right.  Not saying yours isn't the right one as I don't know what he/she has told you.  God Bless you!
