I use them too, but I PLAN on using them when things take a tense turn. With our altered tummies, getting run down seems to have more drastic consquences and or be harder to work through.
I buy little old lady shakes like Ensure or Boost-they are in smaller sizes (still packed with calories though) and they have some sort of oil that helps them slide down easily. (they were formulated for the elderly, I wasn't meaning to be rude) They DO go down easier than a frothy blender shake, so there must be something to it.
I don't think they'd be good for long term, but to get you through a rough patch with some nutrition intact, they really do the trick. Vanilla is the blandest flavor they have (but they are all pretty bland).
I use the Atkins, Slimfast LowCarb or EAS Carb Advantage shakes for breakfast just about every morning as it is the meal I have never eaten and so that is my answer (with my nuts blessing) And trust me when you catch teh tummy bug going around and nothing wants to stay its nice to be able to sip on one of them and know you are getting liquids and nutrients.
Yes I know that WW says No to them but my Dr actually does recommend at least one supplement a day to help you get your protien goal. So I offer only my choice and my doctors.
