Welcome to the Okie board and soon, to Oklahoma!!! I think you will like it here as people are very kind but it will be a bit of a culture shock. My husband is from Brooklyn and I moved there for a couple of years. (actually lived in Queens and worked in Manhattan) But I told him there was an easier way of life and we moved back to Oklahoma and that was 17 years ago. He loves it here!
Now to your doctor question...sometimes wls doctors can be cranky about taking "other doctor's" patients if they didn't do the surgery. I guess that's because the big bucks are in doing the surgery and not the follow up care. (But I guess that's kind of an unflattering, negative thought...) There are some people who will chime in here that will give you good advice about this. We have a gal who moved from California shortly after her RNY and she did find a doctor she loves to take care of her. Her name is Stephanie and I'm PM her to make sure she sees your post.
In the meantime, please stay on the Okie board so you will feel like you already know us by the time you move here. After all, we'll be part of your new family! Ask any questions you might have - this is a smart group who has been where you are!
Much good luck to you in your journey and, once again, WELCOME!

I forgot to mention the most important thing! Please find a support group to attend when you get here. I find this to be an important thing for my "recovery". (my emotional recovery from my food addiction!)
The best support group ever is in Edmond, about 30 minutes from Norman, at WeightWise. (www.weightwise.com) We meet every Thursday night from 6:00-7:30. The grop is conducted by our psychologist, Dr. Keller, and is very lose and informal but supportive and inspiring. It is also open to anyone who wants to come no matter if they are pre-op, post-op, patients from somewhere else or just a family member. So please come! You'll be happy you did!
