Hello everyone.  Have been reading the forum now for about 2 wks. and thought maybe it was time to say "HI".  I'm very new to this, and am kinda shy at the same time.  I  like to keep myself in the background most the time.

I had a r n y done on 3/2/09, feel pretty good most of the time except when it comes time for  the protein shakes.  Its realy hard to choke those things down, so not getting all that I should be getting.  I've  lost 28lbs. since my surgery, but after reading alot of the posts I feel like it shoulda been more.  Everyone has thier own pace, looks like mine will be slow, lol.

If anyone has any tips or advice, would like to hear it.
Ya'll have a good night.

Hello & welcome, I think it sounds like you are doing well, just a month out and 28 lbs.  That's great!  My surgery is restrictive as opposed to malabsorptive so it's really a slow, steady weight loss, sometimes I am a little envious of you quicker losers!
Are you exercising yet?  That really helps the weight loss.  You do need to get the protein down, it takes time to find some you like well enough to drink often.  Try mixing them with fruit in a blender, it helps.  I also like to add powdered peanut butter to make the chocolate ones taste like a peanut butter cup .  Keep up the good work!

Thank you mamacj, I think I'de like to try the peanut butter thing.  I've never heard of powdered peanut butter before, where might I be able to get some from, if you don't mind me asking.

The only exercise that I'm doing at the moment is walking on a treadmill.  Guess I'll have to boost that to, lol.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Oh yeah, I remember adding PB2 from Plantation Bell to some drinks pre-op and it made them taste good.  They have a website but I dont' remember it so google plantation bell pb2 and you will find it.

I saw powdered peanut Butter at Country Mart the other day. I live in Glenpool so I am not sure if they have one in Pryor or not. I am sure that if they have it other grocery stores will too.

You are doin great...don't get discouraged. I had a really hard time with the shakes at first too until I found one that i really like and now i just drink it and don't even think about it.

You have found the best place to be. Everyone here is great and they have helped me a ton. So...keep up the good work!

Hi and welcome to our group! I cant' help you on the protien shakes cuz I hate them too.  I found a hot chocolate protien drink that works for me but it only has 15 grams of protien and you probably need mroe than that.  You have lost 28 lbs in a short amount of time!  That is amazing!  When is the last time you followed a diet and lost that much weight in such a short time?  exactly!  You are doing awesome!

Thank you debtfree, when you put it that way it sounds alot better, lol.  Everyone that I've read messages from has done so well.  Guess I'm just to anxious, time needs to go by faster.

Thank you,

Remember too it also has a lot to do with how much you have to loose.  And as much as I love the guys on this board really don't compare yourself to them.  I met a guy that lost 78lbs his first month, but he had 250+ to loose and I had about 100.

I hated most meal replacments they were either to sweet or too something. I finally went and bought low carb slim fast vanilla and have been doing that since December of 2007. Davini syrupds have alot of sugar free ones that I added to my shakes. Plus I only use vanilla protein supplements that way I can add what ever flavor I want..or fresh fruit. The trick is simple it will take you time to find the perfect shake for ya....try adding your protein powder to sugar free pudding and sugar free cool whip and freeze it...I love the cheesecake kind plus white chocolate.
28 pounds is awesome!! just dont think you are not losing fast enough cause you will lose at your own pace....
Hugs to ya and welcome to Okie forum
