No, it is not crazy for you to do these things. Everyone should have all their things in order at any given time, but especially when you are going to have surgery. It will make you feel better as well. Best of luck to you and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

I wrote letters to my kids and my husband, I did give the letters to them right before surgery.  I also told my husband all of the information about my life insurance policy (I've had it since I was probably 10 - it's since matured but I don't think I ever put him on as the beneficiary since my parents always paid the bill), gave him the number for HR just incase I didn't make it so he would be able to get the ball rolling to collect on my life insurance through work, and finally told him all of the passwords for all of the bills that I pay online.  I don't think that you are crazy to think about this at all.

I defiantly did get all my "ducks in a row" and got a notarized statement about my wishes concerning the custody of my 4 year old son since his father is not in our lives. I have heard it said that 90% of the tragedies we prepare for never happen so I prepared all I could.

I think you should always have your legal things in order especiall when it concerns what you want done and how you want them done after your gone.  You are however, more likely to be killed in a car accident going to work or WallMart than during surgery!!!  That being said...you need to have your things in order so that it will be easier on your kids and husband later.  I did this after I had kids and worked for an attorney.  I realized I didn't want the State to handle my affairs...I want my kids and husband to have what I want them to have!!!  I didn't do this for WLS but just because it is the smart way to handle your affairs in any situation.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I already had them in place-if you don't, I think it's a good idea to do it.
