Had surgery a.m. Monday.  It is wednesday and the pain is almost unbearable.  I have the loratab elixer (generic) but I have to take it in small sips because it hurts my stomach.  Been walking, walking, walking and at hospital.  Any silver lining on the 3rd or 4th day out?

It will just take some time. Everyone is different. They pump alot of air in your abdomen. I felt such pain that I swear I was having a heart attack. Keep walking. Did the doctor tell you to get some gas medicine? I used baby drop mylicon.

Thanks for the encouragement.  My chest has been hurting bad, too, and a heart attack has come to mind a few times!  Been taking gas medicine and attempting to get all of my pain medication down...takes about 15 minutes to do that!  My husband keeps telling me I am going to wear a hole in our carpet by walking and pacing so much!

Walking is the best thing to do. I had severe pain like that for almost a week. It does get better it just takes time.

I'm sorry you're in pain.  It seems like for most the 3rd day is the worst and then it should get better and better.  If the pain gets unbearable call your surgeon....that's what you paid him for!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

The 3rd day was the worst for me.  I was miserable.  I did get better with time.  Hang in there.

ALL I CAN TELL YOU IS THAT IT WILL GET BETTER WITH TIME. I DON'T REMEMBER THE PAIN BEING UNBEARABLE BUT I DO REMEMBER IT HURTING SOME. THE LORATAB HELPED A LOT! HANG IN THERE!

Actually, you are on day 3 on Wednesday if you had surgery on Monday.  It seems like it is always the most painful - it was for me anyway and many people report the same thing.  I can tell you that day 4 is usually better.  When I woke up on day 4, I knew immediately that I was better.

Hang in there!  I promise every day gets better and you will be so much happier!

The silver lining is this..it will take time for the pain to go away. And then the nerves will wake up and it will be like butterflies fluttering inside of you.
For me my open rny was a walk in the park compared to my 9 and 10th surgery..Had more pain with this last one...dang nab it you would think 18 days post op I wouldnt be hurting...

being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

I used a heating pad on my belly (or whatever hurt the most) and it helped a lot.  Hang in there- it gets better fast!
