Were you drinking 64 oz fluids? I have wondered if I am dehydrated. I have been nauseated, diarrhea and really, really bad leg cramps. I couldn't tell if I have a stomach virus but I worked all night and I woke up at 2pm. So I have 8 cups of fluid to get in by bedtime. I can't eat unless I have it in althought I'm not hungry. Some people on the board talk about only getting in 40oz per day. Is that smaller abount ok or will you eventually get dehydrated? I am really sick of drinking.

Girl,

You are really starting to show signs of dehydration in my honest opinion.  I would highly suggest you contact Foundation - call the hospital it will go to the nurses station and let them know how long this has been going on and what is going on.  40oz per day is no where near what you need - especially early out after surgery.  If you are not getting any nutrition as well, you are going to go downhill very fast.

I know I am not a medical professional, but I have been in this for quite awhile and it is better safe than sorry in calling the docs.  Please just make that call and get some assistance.  I don't want you to have any repercussions from dehydration.

YOU are important!!  Take care of YOU!!

Well, I have been getting in the 64 oz. required. I am proud of that. I don't know how I could get dehydrated based on drinking so much. I won't be able to eat today due to working last night and sleeping most of the day. I just eat maybe a few small bites when I do eat otherwise I am miserable. I took some of my post op Phenergan when I woke up because I knew I needed to get my fluids in. I just took my post op lortab because I keep having horrible leg cramps and my leg muscles ache. I did manage to get one of my 3 calcium citrate tabs in and will try to get a 2nd one in. It didn't make me nauseated. I hope to try and get my vitamins in tomorrow. I really can't financially or emotionally afford to go back to the hospital. Thanks for all the info. I will call tomorrow and see what they think.

I had waves and waves of nausea.  Nothing I ate or drank helped and I just didn't want anything even though I know I needed it.  I was also a bit weak and dizzy.  The diarrhea is what caused my dehydration.  Dr Walton gave me a prescription to help with that and it has helped.  Be careful though.  It can have the reverse effect.

Do EXACTLY what Ruth says...She knows, she's been there, and she helped me get through the same thing.

I did drink 64 oz during my 2 weeks of fluids post op but had so much diarrhea (?TMI?). I still have it occasionally. How do you know how much to replace it with. So hard to just get in 64oz.
Thanks for your message. I don't want to get to the point of going to the ER.
