Ok I knew it was coming and have been eating protien and getting all my vitamins, except I never got the biotin and now my hair is falling out like crazy. Yes I knew it would happen I even cut 8-10 inches off it when I had it cut to my shoulders to lessen it but knowing it is xoming and then looking at a hand covered in hair after washing is anothere thing. I have always had LONG hair at one point well below my waist and it was my one real vanity so my new length is a change and *POUT SNIFF SNIFF POUT* it is falling out. *SIGH* Ok I am done whining and gonna go get my big girl panties and head to walmart for biotin and new big girl panties.

Sarah~  I send hugs and sympathy (well, empathy cuz I've been there, too).  Rita is right that we all go through it...  I had a vitamin deficiency and I went through it REAL bad.  I had to cut mine, dye it, and get my big girl panties on, too, hehe.  You'll get past it, girl.  Oh, and I recommend Nioxin (sold at salons).  It works great for re-growing the hair.

The Biotin helps, I think but can't prove, but wouldn't have kept you from losing hair.  It's a necessary evil for all but a small group of lucky people.  Take heart!  It doensn't last forever!  Some people have even told me that their hair came back even better.  For me, I starting losing hair at about 3 months and it stopped at about 8 months.  I don't think anyone could tell but me but it was scary and icky and I hated it.

But worth the trade-off!  It'll be ok!  Big hugs to you, my friend!

Sarah,

I have just noticed in the past few days that my hands are covered in hair when I'm showering and then getting ready in the mornings. It also won't style like I like it too, so I know I'm losing it.  I have been using the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner, but it hasn't kept me from losing it, but hopefully it will help it regrow.  I have fine hair so it's going to be very noticiable.  I think I may get it cut into a short spiky cut again, maybe it won't be so noticeable.  I don't know...I just hate it, but know there's nothing I can do about it, and the trade-off, like Kim said, is well worth it!

Hugs,
Marsha

The Nut at Weight Wise says there is no way around it and that honestly nothing will change the outcome of it....I have also always had long hair and wish this part of it wouldn't happen but with my hair this long I will have great comb over hair when it does happen!  I guess you are right on time with it. Chris said that it happens about 4 months out. I just want to know how long it takes for it to come back in???
I will tell all who use that Shampoo, Nioxion or whatever it is. I was at Beauty Brands a month or so ago and they said that the big bottles of that will be going on sale in June or July, so we need to be watching for that sale!

Hang in there and hope this is a short phase!

My hair has always been thin but even when I was losing it by the handfuls I was the only one to notice. My nails grow like crazy with the biotin, but I really don't think it did a thing for my hair. Now at almost 9 months out I am not losing and have lots of new hair growth. I use a root lift product to style with but I also notice that my hair has more body and is easier to style now -- weird.

I have thin hair right in the front anyways (runs in the family) .... I am used to getting out of the shower with ton's of hair falling out because it is long. I have already told hubby when it starts I going to get a super short spiky hair cut with pink tips! If Im gonna look weired(because I have always had long hair & never go shorter than my shoulders) I might as well have fun with it RIGHT??

I cut my hair from the middle of my back to spiky also.  I love it!!!  It made my hair loss not as evident.  And didn't seem like my hair was all over the place too.  Now that it has stopped falling out I really like it shorter.  This is the shortest it has ever been.  I have more compliments than I ever did with long hair.  Have fun, plus your hair will grow...

As I have said a thousand times..hair grows in three month cycles so your hair is falling out from when you were a pre op when your protein was low plus surgery always makes it fall out....you are kinda late on the coming out...plus your hair is thinning from the season change. my big girl advice is simple....have a new hair do to go along with the new you...
My hair use to be past my waist ..with all the surgeries it has not yet got past my shoulders..hopefully this time it will
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
