John and I think we should all meet and do the 5K walk at the Redbud Classic in OKC on April 5.  For details, the website is www.redbud.org .  They will begin taking registrations online on Monday, March 23 and pre-registration is $25.00 per person and includes a timing chip and a t-shirt.

What do you guys think?  Are you interested?

I looked at the website today - are you sure we can walk the 5K? It says that there is the 5K run and 2K walk. Just wondering...I can probably run some of the 5K, but not the whole thing - I can definitely walk it though.....

John says we can walk the 5K but I thought the same thing.  Maybe we're better off with walking the 2K?

Yeah I know, I thought he said we could walk it. I am going to look at the website again when I get home - maybe there is a way to find out...the 2K would be less than a mile!

I walked the 5K a few years ago.  They will ask the walkers to line up behind the runners so we don't tie up traffic.  It was fun.

Denise

I just went to the Redbud site- they are once again lining folks up based on how long we expect to take to finish the race.  So, if we choose to stay together we will need to talk about an estimated pace.  I know for certainty that I will NOT run any of the Redbud due to my hip problems.

I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Seriously, now... what are they going to do if you get on the 5K course and don't "run"?? Do you think they'll come after us with cattle prods?  I've never done one of these before, but from what I can tell, as long as none of us line up in front of the 6 minute milers and cause a traffic jam, there shouldn't be any problem at all with walking.

I'm up for it - hope we can gather more of the group.  It should be a lot of fun, and a good way for us to get out and strut (what's left of) our stuff!

For me, a Twinkie on a stick in front of me would be more encouragement than a cattle prod!!!

5K it is!  I think I walked a 5K "run" with Happycat before and she's right.  They just line you up behind the runners so you don't get run over.  We can all do 3 miles!  We'll be talking so much, we'll never even notice!

I work for the timing company that times the 5k, beleive me you will not be the only ones walking.  I more than likly will be sitting at the finish line doing backup timing, unless I get moved into the trailer... Wave as you go by.
