Question Stage 3 of the food plan

I think the answer depends on which NUT your practice uses-some are pro-supplement, some are anti-supplement-there seems to be no middle ground.
One thing to consider, if you go with high protein drinks, you are going to tax your kidneys if you don't drink extra fluid, so it's kind of a toss up from that standpoint.
My advice, beyond listening to your doctor is figure the calories AND the protein in your daily totals.....Protein drinks are one of those things that will pack on the pounds faster than a Krispy Kreme if you don't account for the caloric part of it.
What I actually DO is use supplements several times a week, especially in hot weather when I don't care for a whole lot of meat....but I think of it as a meal, not a tasty snack. And, if I get nibbly too soon after, I realize that drinks bypass my surgery and I go for solid protein for the next meal for sure.
Patti was responding for RNY-and the rules for them are a little different-the sleeve and the band don't have any malabsobtion, so if you drink a 300 calorie drink, you are going to get 300 calories.
Pushing the fluids flushes out your system and keeps it running optimally to lose weight.
At this stage, you should be able to get your protein requirements from food. Are you able to do that? WW also does not give a certain required number of protein grams per day. We are just required to eat protein first at every meal.
Let me know if you have any questions I might be able to help you with!
