Okay I know I am a little whiny. I have been so nauseated and just feeling like "yuck". I have been doing what they told me but the last 2 days it has been all I can do to drink my 64 oz. I was eating 3 times but the last 2 days just 2 times and could have just skipped the second meal. Has anyone had this problem 3 weeks out. Also I am just sick of drinking. I want to just skip a day of drinking worse than eating a huge meal. Everything I drink has a weird taste in my mouth and kinda dry in my throat. I have had every drink in the book. I am a little down about this. It takes so long to get just 1 cup of fluid down.

I hate to the be the bearer of bad news - nausea is sometimes caused by dehydration.  Especially in the beginning it is something that even though all we are doing is drinking - can happen.  What I would suggest  is - CALL THE HOSPITAL.  (You are a WeightWise patient right?) The nurses can always run down some possiblities and give suggestions and if they feel the need will contact the doctor on call.  You DO NOT want to get dehydrated for any reason at this point because once you are it usually takes saline to get you going again.

Please do not wait to contact the doctor.  Even if they don't think it is anything, it is better that you call!  Since you are in the beginning of your journey, one thing may appear as something insignificant and can actually be an issue for a bariatric patient.  We are still learning our bodies and how they are addressing our surgery.  What WAS before is no longer...

Listen to your body closely!!  Please go ahead and make the call.  It will be alright - you are not bothering anyone!

I can relate to you. I am tired of sipping too. I have started drinking Koolaid made with splenda. I get too full on fluid as well. Water has started tasting nasty so I am done with it for a while. I will be glad when I can have citrus. I miss my green tea with citrus and my citrus splash crystal light. Just one more week and i can have it.

I don't know what you are drinking, but I've found I drink more and am happier about it if I make the crystal light stuff or splenda koolaid stuff at about half strength.  I like a a little flavor, but this way there is not that icky aftertaste.

Ruth is right, nausea can be caused by dehydration, so don't give up drinking.  Sometimes, when I've been really sick with the flu or something, I'll get a dixie cup or a shot glass and pour a "shot" every few minutes and drink it that way-it's less overwhelming than trying to drink down a huge glass of something.  (but I'm easily amused too).

I have been drinking the water, crystal light, koolaid stuff diluted and full strength to see if that works. I can't explain it but it makes my throat dry. I hope this life of drinking gets easier. I never had a problem before with those drinks. I get up in the morning and just cringe at the thought that my 64 oz countdown begins again. Thanks for the idea's.

I am so excited for you. I did lose 33 pounds of that total before surgery but included it in my total because it took work to do it and I am proud of it. I love the ticker because it helps me to see the countdown to my goal. I hope all goes well.

Man do I know how you are feeling too. I had a couple days that were horrible for me. I forced the liquids in plus some extra and by the next day I was better. I realized that I must have been low on liquids. I remembered my Nut saying that if you have to choose between food and liquids go for the fluids so that is what I do for now. It is hard to make sure you are doing that when you are so nauseated, but like Ruth says....we don't want to have to be force fed fluids so we need to drink, drink, drink! I would also do like she said and call the hospital to be sure of what to do.
I don't seem to have any problem drinking at all as far as it taking long. I can drink pretty normal and have been able to since the beginning, it is just making myself do it! Time helps with it all, we just have to make a habit of it now...
I do hope you are doing better in a few days...
Hang in there!

I understand about pushing the liquids and that it gets old!  Before surgery, I had no problem drinking lots and lots of water.  Now, even 9 months later, I still have to push those fluids and get tired of it.  In the early going, I used to look forward to going to bed so I didn't have to drink any more!  Sad, but true.

I find that hot liquids are much, much easier for me to get down so I drink a lot of decaf coffee.  This may not work for you so just keep trying to find what works for you.

Eventually you will be able to "gulp" more than you can now and that makes it a lot easier.

Just hang in there and please, please do not get dehydrated.  I did that once and it cost me a trip to WW for the joy juice via a needle.  Not a fun way to spend a Saturday evening!  So sippy, sippy and smile, smile!
