Update on me

After a very busy week with 4 trips to Tulsa this week 2 hours each way I am finelly done with the pre op check list. Friday was my last set of precedures. I got to BMC at 7 am (my poor husband got off work at 3 am and we had to leave at 5 am to make it to bmc by 7am. He had worked 10 hours than had to drive for 2 hrs and wait by my side the whole day than drive another 2 hrs home. He is such a trooper) I had my EGD first it was a breeze except the lidicane I had to swish and swallow (Dr KIrk said it tasted like jet fuel and racoon urine mixed. I would have to agree.) Then they sprayed mt throught and I saw them push so meds in my iv and that was the last thing I remember I woke up as they where pushing me into recovery. Then I had to go to radiology to have the IVC filter put in. I was really scared about this. They took me into a room scrubed my neck place a full body drap over me from head to toe even covering my face. This is not good for someone who is closterfobic. Dr Kirk ordered a bunch of hevey sedation for the Nurse to give me so I would be asleep since I was so scared. I woke up and was moved to another recovery room. I am in a lot of pain around my neck and I am on very strict wt limits and can't go back to wor****ill Monday Night. (i was told I could go back to work the next night but the didn't know I worked as a CNA so I have to go back Monday night. The good news is I am all set for My surg date and that is the 26th I start my clear liq diet on the 22nd but I can have cream of chick soup, and tomatoe soup so it won't be all that bad. The last day I work is the 22nd and I have to be off for at least 6 weeks because of the heavey lifting at my job. I will keep everyone updated after surg and Let everyone know when I am home I won't get to post much this next wee because I have to work monday night thru Sunday night (12 hour shifts) to make sure I have a full paycheck.

Christina,

Sounds like you need a vacation!  That amount of running around within a short amount of time is tiring just to read it!  I hope everything turns out just perfect for you.  Sound's like you've got an amazing husband that hangs in there with you!

Once you jump thru all the hoops to get there, you'll be happy!  Keep strong, you can do this!!

It sounds like you are getting everything done.  I know it's a pain to go through all these hoops but it's all so important to make sure you have no problems that they aren't aware of prior to surgery.  They want you to be as safe as possible!  It's going to be so worth it all!!  Hang in there my friend!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!
