I believe they are now performing it as I know a couple of people on this board who are having their surgery there.  They used to refer out, but I believe they only do that in very high risk cases now.  When I had my surgery almost 5 years ago, they referred out more often than not as the surgeons seemed to be either backed up or deployed a lot.  Hope that helps!

I'm not sure what they're currently doing but I will tell you that from my experience with Reynolds If you can get reffered out I DEFINATLY WOULD! I know that everyone's experience is diefferent but I used Reynolds for almost a year and went through several different Dr.'s and procedures...and everytime I had a bad experience, and usually it was attributed to poor bedside manner on the part of the staff there. I was just overall very displeased with the hospital in general....again this was almost  5 years ago....so take this at face value, just my .02

Im going thru the program at Reynolds. From what I have seen it is run very well, I am totally happy with the process. I know a few yrs back it wasnt that great. I have had nothing but good experience with Reynolds. I was in the ER for 4 hrs last Friday and everyone was awesome. I know that they have made a lot of changes in the last year or so.

How are your blood sugar readings now? I have been really worried about you and what you have gone though in the past week or so. I was just wondering if the meds were controlling it or not?
I had to really do some work to get my A1 down, so I could have my surgrey, but it has been good since. I had to do increasing doses of insulin in order to get there but at least now it's over.
I am just praying that nothing blocks you from this dream.

They are anywhere between 250 & 140 depending on when I take them.  The head anastesia guy was with me for the EGD and he said they will watch it and make sure it is ok before time for surgery. They are super nice & very concerned about me, even the nurse from same day surgery has taken a personal interest in my and offered to help me and answer any questions I had about diabetes. She called me twice already to check on my sugar.
Thanks for thinking about me Sherry...

Reynolds doesn't refer out at this time, they now have a doctor on staff that performs the surgery, His name is Dr Reyes.
