Calcium Citrate

Has anyone found a calcium citrate either chewable or liquid that is decent enough to choke down? The only ones I have found have been at Akins. One of them was a blueberry flavored liquid that taked like chalk and a cross between licking the sidewalk where a blueberry had been smashed by a shoe and the other was Solaray's chewables which taste like Tang. Which at first doesn't too bad, until you realize you have to chew 6 a day, that is a heck of a lot of Tang!

Anyone find anything else that they can recommend to me?

I just use the regular citracal and swallow them. The ones I get are not very big. They also make a petite.

I had the same problem.  I was a cheater and started on the Citracal petites (which are not chewables) earlier than I was supposed to.  WW patients are supposed to wait until they are 6 months post-op before they swallow real vitamins.  So I'm not the best example but I couldn't do those chewables.  They were nasty!  And you described it exactly!  Happycat called them flavored kitty litter.  Pretty accurate decscription!

PS  I'm not suggesting you cheat like I did.  Everyone has to make their own decision!

I take the Bariatric Advantage Chocolate Chewable Calcium Citrate. I get it online. It is pretty reasonable and it goes down easy.

UGH!  I haven't found any that I really like.  I have stopped doing the chewable ones because Happycat is right...kitty litter.  UGH!  I have bought some Upcal D that you dissolve in liquid and drink....it's not horrible, I put it in my cofffee in the morning, it does't dissolve like I would like it too, but it's not kitty litter at least.  I'll be glad when I get to be 6 mo. out so I can do the Caltrate Petites.  That will make my life so much easier!

Hugs,
Marsha

Try http://www.celebratevitamins.com.  I know many here love them and they auto-ship when you get low.  I haven't started mine post-op but the ones I tried pre-op were not too bad.  These vitamins are formulated for bariatric patients so we tolerate them better.

Best of luck!

Have you checked out the Batriatric Advantage?  You can get FREE samples.

www.bariatricadvantage.com

They specialize in vits and things for WLS patients.............

They also have come out with a new chocolate (I think is the flavor) chewy calcium bites this month.  I signed up and pre-ordered.

I do take their multi vitiamin (I'm terrible at taking iron, calcium or antying like that - ) but labs are still checking out all okay as of January...Mid feb..........

But I eat enough cheese, skim milk, etc that helps with my calcium intake....so I'm not worried yet..

Bariatric Advantage is a little pricey or at least can be.....but we are NOT spending those $$ on food now and/or eating out - so I justify that expense as my monthly food budget......

Something to think about.......

good luck
