Now that I've had my initial consult with the surgeon...
I'm even more convinced that I'm doing the right thing to have all this done, and my husband is fully on board too. It's official, I now have "full throttle type 2 diabetes" as the surgeon said. Apparently I also have an out of whack thyroid that's twice the size it should be and some enlargement in my heart. That was really scary for me, since we lost a dear friend a year ago to heart disease. I knew I hadn't been feeling well lately, but I was just calling myself a hypochondriac, since the military docs have been brushing it all off for so long. In a wierd way I feel kind of justified, but not in a good way, you know?
Sorry...absorbing and rambling. LOL

I'm proud of you for making a decision to take control of your life and health! Sounds like your timing was good too.
Rambling is good. That's how we process what is going through our minds. And during the decision to have surgery, there is a lot tumbling around in there! Or there was for me anyway!
This has been the best thing I have ever done for myself and I hope you'll feel the same. Prepare yourself! It's fun to hop on the scales after wls!

Meagan~ I am glad you received the justification and answers as to why you haven't been feeling well and have even more reason to go forward with the WLS. It's also great when the spouses are fully on board, isn't it? Oh, and aren't Military docs the greatest at making you feel like there's nothing wrong with you? (dripping sarcasm here) I hope you get the green light for a surgery date really soon~ I look forward to following your journey. *hugs*

I too had diabetes and totally out of control, with neuropathy in my feet and slight neuropathy in my stomach. I have 3 stents in my heart, High Blood pressure, severe apnea and so on and so on....I too felt justified to do this, but more than anything I felt that it was my only chance to save my life and begin over again with new dreams. I have gone from 6 to 8 shots a day of insulin to 1 pill a day and occasionally one shot, if my BS shoots up for no reason like it has been doing. There is hope! You will may feel justified now, but you very soon will feel so grateful that this is even an option for you. To me is was a miracle! I'm so glad you are going to be able to do this too!
