My first consult with my surgeon is tomorrow afternoon.
I've got a few questions for him, #1 being whether I need to wean off my sustained release med. I'm going to have DH come up with some questions too, but do y'all have any suggestions for me to ask? I'm terrible at coming up with questions when I actually HAVE the pen & paper with me, I always think of them when I'm driving or drifting off to sleep. LOL
Before surgery they should go over all of the mediciations that you are taking and make recommendations of what needs to be changed. Do you know what your pre-op diet is? When are you supposed to start your vitimines post-op? How long before surgery do you have to be caffine free? Are you required to go to X number of support group meetings before/after surgery?
Hope that gets you started.

I took an extended release medication (anti-depressant) and I took it up until the day before surgery. While I was in the hospital and before I was released it was changed and took 3 tablets per day since extended release no longer works for those who had RNY. Just be sure and make a list of questions and take you pen and paper with you. I always forget to ask things I intended to ask if I don't have a list. Good luck to you!
congrats on your consult.
I took a list of my medications and asked which ones needed to be changed, stopped, or held off on.
I asked about taking vitamins.
I asked if I needed to bring my own meds to hospital or not.
HOw long I would be in the surgery, recovery and hospital.
When to start protein drinks.
I know I asked other stuff, but can't think of it right now.
Hope this helped.
