I'm about 10 months out from RNY and I'm feeling great! My last appt with my doctor was almost 6 months ago so I havent had my blood tested since surgery and I know it needs to be done a.s.a.p. Im almost positive I have some kind of vitamin difficiency. =/ The problem is that I just moved to OKC area and my surgeon is in TX and it is too long of a drive to go see him anymore. Should I find a new doctor in the area or just have my PCP order the tests and fax the results to my surgeon in TX?! Any suggestions....

Do you know of any good docs in OKC?!

Weight wise in Edmond Dr. B and Dr. Walton are awesome. I am Dr. Walton patient and they do listen and generally care about their patients. They are both awesome surgeons but have two different styles, but they work together so when one is out your in good hands. Dr. B is more in your face hes bark and worse than his bite, Dr. Walton is so caring it is not even funny he is gentle as can be. Bu****ch out b/c they will play bad cop good cop on you if needed.

I personally am a fan of my doctor of course and Dr. Keith in Norman is awesome. But as you did do it with another doctor and you seem to trust him I would call their office and ask him which would be better with him if you had your pcp do it right now or if he can recommend a WLS doctor in the area if he prefers that route.

Me, personally, having been a patient of Dr. Warnock's for almost 5 years, I would see what he wants you to do.  He has patients who travel a lot farther than OKC just to have their surgeries done by him so he might want you just to go to a PCP and have the results faxed to him.  That's just my 2 cents, however.  I would at least let him know that you've moved and see if he'd like you to find a new surgeon to follow up with.   He's definitely reasonable, that's for sure!  Hope I was able to be of help!

There are many labs now that are independent. Your doctor could call in an order to have your blood work done at one of the labs here(they can look up which ones are available) and have the results sent to you and to your doctor in TX. I suggest you have them sent to both so that you will have them for future ref.  Welcome to Oklahoma and I hope you get this all taken care of as you don't want to get behind on vitamins.

I would probably choose to see my PCP and get the labs drawn.  If your PCP doesn't feel OK to treat your deficiencies (if there are any) then fax to your surgeon for feedback.  Good luck.
