Prayers for a friend

I found out yesterday that one of my littermates passed away Wednesday from complications due to his WLS. We knew Terry had been ill and his wife had been keeping up with us about what waszgoing on, she knew we were littermates and replied to my 104 lbs lost post on OWLO board.

Terry was unable to ever eat properly though did not contact the doctors about  being ill till almost 2 months out, He felt because he lived so far from here (Durant) that it was a big trip at first when he wasnt sure it wasn't normal. This has made me so sad as there were 4 of us who had surgery that day me being teh ony girl and well now I wonder about my other litter mates who were all older gentlemen except me and Terry. Anyway please if you guys would say a prayer for Donna and their children it would be appreciated.

Oh Sarah~ That makes me really sad to hear that and it makes it hit home that the complications will kill you if you don't do the follow up.  I will say a prayer for his wife and kids and I will keep you and your other surgery buddies that had it at the same time as you in my thoughts and prayers, as well.  Lots of hugs to you!

Someone told me once that WLS can kill you....I honestly don't think that is so true anymore, but neglecting to followup when things are wrong, can. I am so sorry. I know that having surgery the same day bonds you and I know this must be difficult for you. I will for sure pray for Donna and the children.

I'm sure sorry to hear about this, Sarah. It's very sad, and I'm sure it has affected you. I wonder if the outcome would have been different if he'd contacted the surgeon early on. I don't know why we're so apt to try to "go it alone." We don't want to be a bother, etc. It can be deadly, to have that kind of thinking.
I will certainly be praying for this precious lady, Donna, and her children. I'm praying for you, too, Sarah. I hope all your other littermates are doing as well as you are.
Blessings,
Mary

Oh Sarah,

You know I'm in Durant, who is this?  I am so saddened to think someone right here in my town was going through this.  I wish I could have talked to him to get him to the doctor.  Knowing what I have been through, I can't imagine just living with it.  I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, and I am praying for his family.

Hugs,
Marsha

He is at Daltons and will be buried in Enid on Saturday. I wish I could go but due to other things that is not possible this weekend.  Their last name is Skinner.

Oh I am so sorry about your friend!  This is hard I'm sure especially for his family.  I know sometimes people post about problems and this is just an example of how we can't mess with problems and even if we have to call our doctor every day...then we have to.  They do want us to do well.  I am so sorry to hear about your friend.  I'll be praying for his family during this time.

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

Sadly it does still happen more from complications than the surgery itself and I hope that as sad as this is that it will serve as a reminder to everyone that it is so IMPORTANT to do your follow up (he was but we are scheduled at 2wks, 6 weeks and then 3 months he was a slow eater at 6 weeks from my understanding they figured was within normal ranges but took a turn after that visit.)  as well as calling if you are not feeling right. So PLEASE everyone if you dont feel like something is right CALL your doctor just in case.

I will definately keep his family in my prayers! Thank you for sharing this with us, I hate that he didnt do the follow-up, and so many dont carry through with the follow-up, its so heart breaking when they dont and this happens.
