Self Pay question for WW??
Did you pay for your pre-op lab work out of pocket? And if so, how much was it?
The hospital tried to send it through to my insurance company but it came back denied. So I am just wondering if I received the "best self pay amount" that I should have.. I am thinking the hospital could have coded it differently and it would have been taken care of.
Thanks in advance,
Sheila

Hi, Sheila.
I didn't have my lab work done at Wt. Wise, but I wish I had. I had mine done through my PCP's office, and it was something like $1,500. We have no insurance for that, either. Hope this helps.
Blessings,
Mary

Sheila,
I had had alot of my blood stuff done before I went in to WW and had them send the results over from my PCP's office. However; I did have my A-1C and my Parathyroid test there and my pre-op blood work up done at WW as a self pay. The A-1C and the thyroid test was like 60 something and the pre-op was 30. I didn't have to have the HPPilora test as my Gastro doc had done my EGD and had the results of that one. I do know that WW billed my old Insurance Company and it was a huge amount! I had told them I had NO insurance in Aug but they kept billing them.
I will also tell you to watch every thing you are charged for. I have the upmost respect for the hospital and all the nurses and all that, but the billing department is a huge mess! They had my self pay listed as care credit and had me as a patient of Dr.B's and just a huge mess....I have had problems with the bookkeeping part of this since August when I paid 1/2 of the whole thing...Each time I came in it was messed up. So watch it close.

I have had all my labs done here in Wilburton. My insurance paid on them all but they would not if they would have come from WW because they don't cover anything to do with wls. I have a $25 co-pay for each one. You might be able to ask the hospital to recode and re-submit to your insurance. I see hospitals and dr's offices mis-coding all the time and our billing office just re-submits the corrected claims.
