I have found a new passion!

And it's not food!  I have a friend at work who loves to quilt.  My mother and sister love to quilt too, and I've always loved to look at them but never really got into the whole quilting thing.  Well, my friend and I went to a conference together, then went book shopping in McKinney, Texas (another passion that we share) and she took me to this quaint little quilt shop.  I felt the need to try to do this.  Well I bought my fabric and found my pattern (that is definitely out of order...but when did I ever do anything in order) and this weekend I finally have found the time to start working on it!  I didn't leave the house yesterday at all, that's the first time in a long time I've had a day to myself!  I have it about half complete and I do have to say it looks good...now if I can just make the other half look as good!  :)  It's so nice to have a passion about something besides food!!!  To be honest...food is the least of my worries anymore....never thought I'd say that at all!

Hugs,
Marsha

What did you pick for your first pattern?  My first pattern was a log cbin block.  I've got 3 machines but two of them I know for sure isn't working right now so I need to get that fixed soon.  I found it very easy to get lost in quiliting and would go a whole day just working and I would forget to eat :D  I can't do that anymore I guess, have to make sure I get my protein and my water in.

What a wonderful hobby! My mom is an avid quilter. I've given it a shot but I stay too busy to stay focused on one project that takes as much work and time as a quilt, But I do enjoy the ones my mom has made for me! Way to go!!

Thats a good safe hobby!  Nothing like sky diving or something like that.  This will keep you warm too!  LOL!
I'm glad you found something that you enjoy!

Hi Everyone!  My day off has turned in to a day running here and there, but at least got some things done that I can't do when I'm working.  About to take my mother home and my dog to the vet...then maybe I'll be finished for the day.

No sky diving for me Kim!  Not even if I weighed 100 lbs.  I love to fly, but I want to stay inside the plane!  LOL

I'll post some pics soon!
