Okay here is my question.  I went to Old Navy the other day and walked in wearing a baggy size 20 jean tried on a 18 to baggy then tried on a 16 a little baggy so bought the 14 still a little tight.  Came home got on scale and down 62 lbs. in 2 months.  Then looked in the mirror and still saw 284 body.
So does that ever change and when?  Will I always see the fat girl in the mirror?
Thanks,
Steph

Awesome job!!!  For me, yes I see a smaller girl!  It just takes a bit for your head to catch up with your body!

Steph, you are doing awesome girlfriend!!!  WOW is all I got to say....  I STILL see the fat girl in the mirror but it's getting a little bit better.  That's why I think it's important to have your husband take pictures of you at least monthly.  Then, you can print them out and see the change in you as you go down.  Remember , they did surgery on our tummies and not our brains.  Hopefully our brain will catch up soon.

Are you feeling better now and able to eat???  I do hope so....  You look great!!!

Thank You.  I actually had a couple of tiny tiny bites of chicken breast Sat. and was able to keep it down.  So it is getting a tad better.  I just made a shake with a scoop of soy protein and is seems okay right now.  I missed you guys last week do to boy's back to school night.  This week I am going to miss also my stepkids and mom are coming in at 6:30 Thurs. to spend my birthday with me.  I will be there next week.  It really helps going.  I feel good.  I started at Tan and Tone and after 8 visits they measured me and I had lost 18 inches.  I was happy about that.  I am just 22 lbs away from being under 200 I don't even remember the last time I was there.  I think I went from 80lbs to 250. LOL!  But I am going to remember how it feels this time.

Can't wait to see all of you next week.

That's awesome Steph.  You might also try grinding the chicken or turkey up a bit and making like chicken salad.  Another thing I can eat that might work good for you is deviled eggs.  I love them and my tummy does too!  I'm just glad you could keep something down.  I love our support group meetings.  You all keep me going.  We help each other.  I enjoyed meeting your DH.  I hope he can tolerate us and our nonsense!!! LOL  We have a Meet and Greet next week I think and maybe you guys will be able to come to that also!!!

I know this feels better than any food EVER tasted!!!

I DO see the skinnier me, but I agree with Debbie in that pictures help with that. I have taken monthly pictures starting with the first one 10 days pre-op and I compare each month to the pre-op picture and the month before. Without that help I don't know that I would see it and I am always surprised when I have gone done another size. That being said, I still have body image issues and don't know if that will ever go away. I am trying though!

Funny, I was thinking the same about myself.  I went shopping this weekend and kept bringing the larger sizes in the dressing room.  When they were too big, I was thinking that it must have been the way that article was made!  I just can't bring myself to take a 16 into the dressing room on the first round.

Steph,

Congratulations on 62 pounds down!  Way to go!

As for the mirror... I still have trouble with the 378 pounder that lives in there.  Every time I stand in front of it, there he is looking me square in the face.

I did find an interesting new take on this over the weekend.  If you can, turn off the lights directly over your mirror so that you can't see the details of your face/body, but have some lights behind so you can still see your silhouette.  My reflection (in the dark) had a NECK, and COLLAR BONES and I could see both his EARS while looking straight ahead.  I know it seems kinda weird, and I may not be explaining the phenomenon very well, but play around with the lights a bit and before you know it, you will see the changes in your mirror.

As for me, I enjoyed that, but once I put the lights back on, the morbidly obese guy was still staring back at me.... oh, well, maybe I'll get him out of there someday.

Best wishes,
John

It just takes a while.  We all seem to deal with this phenomenon early on.  And, some never see the thin version of themselves.  It took my about 6 months or so to see the changes.  Even then it was only sporadic at first.  Now, I pretty much think I see myself as the size I am.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)
