HI - I'M BACK AND REALLY I MISSED ALL OF YOU!

Hello Dear Okie Friends,

I am back after being gone a little while to get some personal family/dh issues worked out.  I believe we are almost back to a more "normal" life - whatever that is.

And I have some exciting news.  My youngest son has a degree in broadcasting.  He has been applying for many jobs, but, with the economy as it is, they are few and far between and the competition is pretty fierce.  He has applied to a tv station and they may be interested in talking with him further.  The station is in (or close to) Denison, Texas which my son said is very close to the OK state line.

Do any of you know where Denison is?  What can you tell me about the town itself?  My son said it is a small market, but, that is fine with him because most folks who work in television start with smaller market share areas to begin with.  He would just be so grateful to be working in a field he has studied and worked toward for so long.  It sounds like the station is in a smaller town but that would suit him just fine because he likes small towns better than huge metro areas.   He is definately people oriented and is getting more excited all the time.

Please say an extra prayer for him as he is getting a little frustrated with his job search.

Thanks to all of you for the supportive pm's and email I have received this last little while.

Huggs,
Pammie

PS
He told his Dad and I today that by his calculations, Denison is "only" about a 16hr. drive from Grand Rapids and it is also a whole lot warmer there.    From what he told us,  today was 67 degrees there- that sounds great to all of us!

It's good to see your smiling face again, Pam, and to hear the lift in your voice. I was thinking about you just today. I'm so happy for your son, and I'll be praying that he gets this job, if it will be good for him (which it sounds like it will). I've heard of Denison, TX, but I don't remember what I heard about it, so I'm not much help. A small town usually means a cheaper place to live (not too many living expenses). You'll surely be coming our way, to visit, if your son gets this job.
Take care, and welcome back.
Blessings,
Mary

Hey Pammie!  I know exactly where Denison is because I've been thru there many times!  It's just about 10 miles or so from Sherman, TX and it's just a few minutes from the OK/TX line.  It's also near Lake Texhoma and it's a beautiful area!

ST HWY 75 goes right thru it and it's small enough to get to know people, but large enough you have all the city convinces!  I live in SE OK and we used to get an Ada, OK TV station that covered Durant, OK & the Sherman/Denison areas, but we have DISH now, so I haven't seen it in a long time.

It is a lot warmer here too!  We've had a beautiful week and I've got Daffodil's just starting to come up in my yard and the spring peepers (frogs) have come out of hibernation already.  I imagine it's going to be a stormy spring though!

May God bless you and your family!

Hi Jen,

I just checked out a link to Denison that another dear person on the board sent me.  Denison looks to be a beautiful town!

Daffodils coming up already!  We can only dream about that up here right now.  But, it was warm today - 40 degrees - and it did melt enough of our snow that I can see some ivy peeking up.  Oh - how I long for warm weather.

Thanks for all your information.

Good Morning LaDetra,

I am glad to be back and to see you too.

Thanks for the prayers for my son.  It is a tough job market right now for everyone, particularly here in Michigan.  We too pray for him being led to the right job at the right time.  Maybe this one is it!

As for the warmer weather - oh boy does that sound heavenly to all of us.  It has been an especially cold, snowy and brutal one here.  75 degrees sounds so wonderful.

We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Huggs,
Pammie
