I just got an email from a lady who thought that me being in a warm place was a curse to her....i don't know her though....i did however ask her to come walk a mile in the shoes...just to show her it's not all fantasy island life 24-7..... so i explained my mixed blessing of the week to her...  bright spots and not-so bright spots....  I thought I'd pass it along for perspective for those who don't think I rememer snowy, ice packed roads....

Karma cuts both ways.....

I had some thankful guests who stayed a few weeks ago send me some stuff that I was shocked to recieve from Fed-EX on Friday....

Fed-EX shows up with multiple boxes and I was like a kid in a candy store for just a few moments, I opened the first box to find what?  These really "bad-assed" cupcakes from a place called "sprinkles"... http://www.sprinklescupcakes.com/   50 of them.....all wrapped in their cool individual boxes....  little semi-gourmet -not-massed-produced handi-works....  and I was like damn....  bad karma.....  here is all of this wonderful goodness....and I can only eat a little of one....so yes...  I ate part of it...and I'm happy...  I passed the rest of them to the people staying in the Villas...  one little girl, only 3 was the belle of the ball with coconut frosting all over her face asking me for another one... heart melting...  ok so good karma....  Oh crud...next box...

I don't know if you folks have ever had this...but let me tell you it's heaven....http://www.scharffenberger.com/    yep a whole box of Sharffenberger handcrafted love in the form of dark chocolate....  dammit...bad karma since I can't eat much of this....(no i only gave up 12 luscious bars since I can cook with this or use it for my once a month treat)....

My next box....  MAN FOOD....Beef jerky to die for....  good karma has called my name....  some custom crafted jerky from the state of Montana...a large box of this enough to last me the duration of hurricane season...  not as tough as the Roberson's Jerky I order from Oklahoma, but equally as tasty....

Lastly i open up the cooler that has like 4 rolls of duct tape around it.....and what do i find?  Amish cheeses, and 10 filet mignons of kobe beef..... if you don't know what this is, well it's like getting a bentley for free....  Good karma has visited my door and I am most thankful for treating people as good as possible.

I explained to the people who were staying with me that I don't pocket any of the fees that I collected, and instead, i bring children who have been diagnosed with a fatal diagnosis to stay with their families for free and with the help of a couple of large foundations and my income frm my new job of commodites broker......  the lady wouldn't stop crying....she got to meet one of those families while staying here...it was heartfelt on one side and completely sad on the other.

I always say you get what you give....  i hope you guys and gals know that it's not all sunshine and fru-fru drinks down here....sometimes we make kids happy during a very non-happy time in their family's lives....  Everytime I see a family take a picture of a child who is destined to die, a bit of me is completly torn.  i've welled up with tears more than any man I know from those moments...  i've never been able to be one of those people who jut gets used to the idea....it's like giving a eulogy of a loved one...some people are brave and can do it without tears....not me...i'm incapable....

I count my blessings daily though... and just think...you peeps are near the top of my list.... (now if we can just figure on how to get more of you to use deodorant.......hehe)

My superstition or whatever is that when I am gifted with something unexpected and wonderful, I immediately either share part of it or if that doesn't work, pass something on in some way.  When the airlines would let Dottie fly for free, I always gave the shuttle driver a 20 dollar tip-I was still ahead and now so was he.

From a fellow jerky-fiend, try No Man's Land.  It's from Oklahoma too and to me it's the bomb.  Robertson's is good, don't get me wrong but No Man's Land is a cut above the rest!

First, beef jerkey - have you guys ever been to the Beef Jerkey Emporium in OKC?  They have so many awesome things including No Man's Land.  But I like soft jerkey - not that shoe leather stuff.

T - those Sprinkles cupcakes are the bomb!  I was in LA last year around Valentine's Day and had a red hot cinnamon one and it was incredible!  The frosting was cinnamon!  Oprah has helped Sprinkles out.  I think they are in LA and Dallas only.

What nice people to show you such love.  They must've really liked you to send such expensive, thoughtful gifts.  Kobe beef is tres expensive, as you know!

I'm so impressed by what you do.  You are making a difference to the most innocent among us and I am in awe!

Like I said in a previous post,

I wanna be just like T when I grow up!!

We certainly could take a page from his book.  There are few truly good people in this world and I think T is one of them.  The reward was good but really a pittance compared to the good he does.  There's not a reward big enough!

Hats off, my man!

T,

What an awesome thing you do for those in need.  Like you, I cannot imagine knowing that my child was destined to die, I don't know that I'd be that strong.  You are the best for giving them just a few days of peace and time away.  We know it's not all fun and games in the sun, but we sure like to give you a hard time about it anyway!  You just shouldn't be so much fun to pick on!

Enjoy your gifts, they really came from the heart.

Well leave to me to say something crazy....
Bad karma was not the cupcakes...nor the chocolate..bad karma would have been if the stuff arrived melted and stuck together....
My parents taught me tis better to give then to recieve ..that what you give freely with and open heart comes back to you ten times fold...
that when you put others first God blesses you by making you first...
that you should always pay it forward not matter the cost to you...
JERKY where where where? I loves my jerky! beef, vension OH MY..turkey is not great
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
