I am..I can not get over how much I changed...
I look into my kitchen and wonder how come its not an inviting place as it use to be....
For years its where I made tempting dishes and tons of candy plus cookies..and now the area where I could pour my love into is empty...Yes I am stuck. My family in NC are wanting me to cook those meals that I always cooked for them...and now I cant even bare the thought of country style steak, creamed potatoes, buttermilk biscuits, sweet potato fluffs..and green beans in fat back...yep I am stuck...Stuck in between wanting to cook for them and gagging....

I probably cook more since being banded than before.  For me, I think it's a function of not being able to eat bread.  Pretty much the only thing you can do with meat and beans is, well, cook them.  Same with eggs.  I can't believe how much bread I used to consume.  (Bread, cookies, chips and white potatoes (baked and fried).

At Christmas, I just pitched in with meat and bean dishes  (except for the Christmas Day debacle) and let everyone else knock themselves out with the bread and cookies and stuff.

Deb I was never a big bread eatter except for biscuits...
I dont have family here so cooking is for me a quick deal.I just miss the ole cooking...every weekend I would be cooking for anywhere from 10 to 20 people....and if we had gont riding OMG I would have cooked a huge meal before leaving and come back to finish making biscuits etc....
I dont think my family back east can deal with eatting the healthy way I do now..Gee I can just see my brothers face when I put a bowl of turkey chili in front of him...

I AM JUST THE OPPOSITE. I HAVE FOUND A NEW LOVE IN COOKING NOW. I AM ALSO OBSESSED WITH COOKBOOKS AND FOOD NETWORK. MY FAMILY IS LOVING THE NEW ME BOTH IN AND OUT OF THE KITCHEN. I ALWAYS FIX THE MAIN PART OF THE MEAL AS SOMETHING THAT I CAN EAT LIKE CHICKEN OR PORK AND EVEN BEEF AND THEN I FIX THE TRIMMINGS I KNOW THEY LIKE BECAUSE I CAN'T EAT VERY MUCH ANYWAY.

When i go out its easier than being at home..being single sometimes is a blessing...
For me I know my family is expecting me to cook for them...Not the healthy life style I have but that ole southern way of cooking...Its hard to convert true southern cooking into healthy..Except for peas& snaps...
I cant wait to see their faces when their sweet sis declines in the cooking...I was already TOLD yes Told that I am to make fudge and cookies

Patti why would they have you make the fudge and cookies knowing you have had surgery. That seems very cruel to me.
When are you going on your trip?
